How much ramp up do you find acceptable?

Hi everyone, my question is really in the title, but I will elaborate a bit.

I mainly vape regulated, but enjoy mechs too. I usually make some simple SS316L, 26G duals, 2.5MM ID that come in around 0.2-0.25.
I have lots more wire types, and thought I should use some of it instead of it going to waste. So I watched some of the first building videos I learnt with, and following rip trippers made some 'Macro' Coils. In his video, which was also on a mech mod, the coils seem to ramp up immediately, but for me they are not.

These are made with 24G Kanthal,5 wraps a side around a 3.5MM bit, and measure 0.3 on my Ohm reader (Sigelei), and 0.27 on my Efusion which I used to test the build before using on my mech.

I find that it takes around 2-3 seconds for the coils to heat up properly with a fresh battery. After they have heated, I can take a few more pulls without this ramp up.

I just wondered if that is a standard ramp up time for such a build with Kanthal, and also what you feel is a 'OK' ramp up time yourselves? Is this normal, or should I just go back to the SS316L?

With my regulated mods I just set the power to enough so pretty much immediately I can take a 4-5 second hit.

Currently I am using a Vector RDA and a Phantom mod to run this build, and am using LG HE4's as I keep these specifically for my mechs.

Seriously....you are talking to people who used to smoke cigarettes they found between the cushions of their couch that they dropped there on the previous superbowl....

for me I like to take quite a deep inhale so 2-3 second ramp up is not such a bad thing where it's pretty warm/hot after that.

I've never got on with simple wraps, have always preferred the vape I get from fused claptons or more complex builds take a bit longer to ramp up but cool down slower is the payoff for me

hate it when it's super hot after a second so build accordingly for that as well

Kanthal is slow, try Nichrome I prefer the n90 usually 23g but sometimes 21g depending on the rda. If you use good batteries you can build around .12 which I get with 3.5mm ID 6 wrap on 23g Nichrome 90 from mad rabbit wires.

I HATE rampup. I want real quick and warm and wet.

Your builds aren't extreme, but the fact is with a 1-battery mech, in addition to resistance, you want to take MASS into account. If it's got to heat up a lot of metal it's gonna take a minute...

I tend to build around 0.4 to 0.5, but same considerations.

When I want duals, I often go with Kanthal, because SS will require too many wraps, too much metal, to keep it from being too low resistance. And I do like duals. I often build with 27 g kanthal, about 5 or 5.5 wrap, 3mm duals.

It may be that this is part of the recent appeal of the 1-coil atties - you can make a 0.2 or 0.4 or whatever, and it's still a reasonable mass for a 1-battery mech to fire. RDA's like the NarDa, O-atty, Hadaly, Gorge, Flave - they're all for single coils...

If you want a recommendation for something you might like based on what you said?
    I'd say,
    a) Buy a Gorge. $24 authentic, good quality, comes with SS and Ultem caps, and takes Goon tips
(or, if you don't want chinese, maybe a Goon - I like the 22mm Goon if you can get a BF pin for it.)
    b) Try something like 6-wraps, 3mm, 24g SS. It should be fast...

@Train thanks for all that help :).

It's funny you mentioned a goon, I actually ordered myself a Broadside clone and a Goon 24MM yesterday to match it. I don't mind single coils so I will definitely try out some singles with it.

I do have a lot of other RDA's, but I mainly vape regulated and the RDA's I use on my mechs are usually to match a specific mod.

I have some 26G SS316L which is what I mainly use, I just have a huge spool of 24G kanthal that I wanted to use up so not to waste it. If I don't find anything to do with it I could always donate it to someone else, but I think singles may work well with it.
Fancy coils aren't really my thing, as I don't find them to be much better than standard coils- this is only my opinion though of course, a lot of people love them.

I vape MTL with 2 to 3 second draws so of course a half second ramp up is fine with me :D
