I have a dozen 60ml 3mg bottles of my favorite tobacco e-juice (Vape-Wilds "Morning Ritual"). I've recently gone from sub ohming to pens and pods and for me they're great at 12mg - not so much at 3mg. So, here is what I'm working with.

    (1) 60ml 3mg premixed Vape Wild 65/35 VG/PG
    (2) 100gm/ml NicVape Nicotine & USP PG

I have a digital scale that will do .01 grams and I have an electronic mixer if I need it.
How much 100mg/ml nic should I add to the 60ml 3mg bottles to turn them into 12mg

    Thank you

So.... you have 60ml @ 3mg and you want to take it to 12mg using 100mg nic. So you really want to increase it by 9mg. Short answer is 5.59 grams - if you are talking just a single 60ml bottle. However, I would suggest you work with this calc to learn more about mixing and percents-you will find it useful over time. Mess with the calc double check my work and make sure it works for you.

    I don't do weights.

If you use a syringe to measure by volume, 5.4mls should get you close to 12mg.

And, shake the shit out of the 100mg nic before you use it.

Wow! That was quick. I'm going to try it all. (1) add 5.59 grams (2) add 5.4 ml (3) check out e-liquid-recipes.com and get smarter so I can figure this out. Thank you very much for your non-complicated help. I'm on it!

Got a magnetic electric stirring machine. My arms are too old. I'll let the power company do the shaking

Again do what works for you, but IMO if you have a scale as you mentioned its calibrated and you know its accurate I would never use volume w/ 100mg nic-especially at lower amounts of total juice volume. Again this is just me-for flavors I would not be so worried or careful but nic is another story. And again this works for others-just be careful and/or understand you may not get the exact result you want..

I agree concerning mixing by weight and it's exactly why I got the 0.01 gram scale. I understand from all I've read that it is most accurate. Like you, flavor is not the main thing with me. I'm an ex 50 yr smoker and I need the activity and nic hit. That's why I recently switched from sub ohm. The pens give me both the activity fix (I like holding a cigarette) and the higher nic throat hit without the cough or irritation.

The stirrer does look a bit like a hot plate. It uses magnetic capsules that go in the jar of e-liquid that you want to stir. The magnet in the stirring machine makes the tablet/capsules in the e-liquid jar spin around and mix whatever is in there. You set it on a timer and get a great mix

Meh. I've had a few hundred shots from the doctors over my lifetime of various medications potentially more harmful than nicotine and not once did anybody weigh them. :p

If volume is good enough for them, it's good enough for me. :)

If I didn't have my fancy new 0.01 gram scale from Amazon, I would be right there with you doing this by volume; you know, whatever works. However, with vaping I get to bring in a few more big-boy toys (although little ones), like my fancy schmancy gram scale and electronic stirring machine. It just gives me something to do

Likewise I have had to do injections part of my life and my late brother had diabetes and we had to give him shots all the time.

Again it depends on what your using... Some may try and use volume pipettes or even the wrong syringe size for the volume they want (irrigation syringe when tubing or injection syringe should be used to get the volume correct) or a scale that shows whole grams or just 10ths.

Not suggestion either one is better or worse than the other-just noting depending on what you have to be careful and or understand if you are looking to get an exact level of nic you may not get it. One of my friends and some here on VU cant go over a certain amount of nic without undesired effects. Just worth noting to help anyone mixing with nic-a lot of variables can be in this scenario based on supplies. Early on I used syringes and validated my amounts with the scale then it just started to feel like I was wasting money on syringes. :)

    *Cheers

I purchased one 60 ml 12 mg bottle of the same vape juice that I'm increasing from 3 mg to 12 mg so that I can see how close my mixture comes in throat hit and flavor to the premixed 12mg bottle I got from Vape Wild. I'm not going to be able to match it exactly, but I'm sure I can get very close if I do my mixing and increasing of nic by weight. I will post results by sometime next week. Thanks to all for their help and inspiration!

Nice and good luck-I love DIY and found most store bought juice is not "good" to me.

You mentioned throat hit so unsure if you are looking for more or less. If you find the 12mg is too much throat hit when compared to the 3mg but the nic in the 3mg is too low-check out salt nicotine (if you have not already).

You can bump up the nic a looot without that nic throat hit. Using salts im vapping 12mg in and RDA - which I could not come close to doing with freebase nic.

I went crazy and got some salt nic of another juice I really like (Beard No. 00 (sweet tobacco). I vape that at 3mg sub ohm, but went wacko and got 50mg salt nic of the same juice from Beard. Way too much and a different kind of hit for me. I might try backing that down by about 50%. The other thing is that I have a dozen bottles of a juice that I like (Vape Wild Morning Ritual) and I'm invested in and if possible I want to use it up. I've tried the 12 mg in my Smok Infinix vape pen (refillable pods) and it's pretty close in flavor and a nice throat hit that I can't take with a sub ohm.

More accurate assumes that the base is exactly 100mg/ml and evenly dispersed. I doubt this is the case with any bases.

I think both volume and weight are acceptable and for what we are doing, given the variations possible(probable), I don't think a greater accuracy is gained through weights.

I didn't make an argument against using weights, but one was made against using volume. I'm just clarifying that one, despite some claims, is not better than another. In a lab setting, it would be different. But unless the base was lab tested, we're starting out with an unknown(exactly) quantity.

    No harm meant.

Since I have a dozen 60 ml bottles to convert from 3mg to 12mg, it would behoove me to try both methods and see if one gives me a better result. If I mix by volume, I'm only going to need one syringe since I'm only adding nic, and if I'm mixing by weight, I get to use my new 0.01 gram scale and can use the same syringe to add nic by weight. Should be fun.

    I use a 3ml syringe.
If I were to need 3.5mls I would just do 2ml then do another 1.5ml.

If I am trying to hit 3mg and I have store bought 0 nic the worse case scenario is I end up with 2mg or 4mg while trying to get 3mg but I doubt I've ever been off by that much (if, and that's a big IF the 100mg/ml nic I have is exactly 10% nic by volume and it has been shaken perfectly.)

On some sites 0 nic is 40% cheaper then if it has nic so it's always good to check the price difference between zero nic and your preferred nic level when shopping for eliquid online.

I bought a 120ml of of Strawberry Shortcake eliquid and the price difference between the zero nic and 3mg/ml version was so great that I was able to buy the eliquid at zero nic AND a 100ml bottle of 100mg/ml nic base for the same price!

Understood and I should have gone into more detail about the syringe size/type with the "correct" tools all is possible :)

While I could provide you with the answer I prefer to provide a link to calculators because if someone makes a mistake giving you the answer you might wind up with a nasty headache or stomach ache. Especially since you are working with 100MG Nicotine. Learn before doing is how I was raised.

How you would you input the existing juice (3mg) into the calculator without knowing the recipe/amounts of flavorings?

You'll need 6.136ml. If you let me know the VG and/or PG percentage of your nic base I can also give you the amount based on weight. PG and VG have different weights per gram.

It's from the Juice Calculator program by Rod "HotRod" Brown.
It's the hands down best DIY Juice software available anywhere, at any price. And it's free.
