So I obtained joyful information today from my bank that my debit card has been compromised. The good news is they caught it before the perpetrators racked up thousands of dollars worth of transactions... The bad news... I have absolutely no money to last me until payday now... they say it will take a few days to have the funds reversed back into my account and approximately 2 weeks to get a new card. What sux the most... I'm at my local vape shop getting fluid because I'm running very low when I found out my card was cancelled... Yay! Let the anxiety begin!

On a side note: it looks like I'm going to be finding a new local Vape shop... I can't believe how they acted about having just mixed up fluid that I couldn't purchase... like I was really inconveniencing them. This week is going to suck.

I've had it happen to me as well. I feel your pain. I used to not worry about it too much, but since then I've gone back to primarily using cash.

My primary bank was recently bought out by a smaller bank... this bank doesn't offer temp cards but my old bank did... it's irritating to say the least I'll probably be bank shopping soon...

@outwest I probably will too or at least have a cash stash at home just in case

What my bank did was give me credit for the unauthorized amounts so that I could go ahead and use the $ if I needed to (with the understanding that any charges that they couldn't reverse, I'd end up owing them). It helps that I've banked there since 1980, though.

I got a letter saying my card "MAY HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED"...the bank let me use the same card untill a new one arrived...Nothing came up as an un authorized purchase however..Guess i was lucky.

I think I would have to killa motherfucker if I caught them using a fraud card.
Did damned near come to blows a few times in retail when someone tried to and the ID did not match the card in any fashion and I would not release the card to the person presenting it. Cops response was fast as hell and so was mall security.

That really sucks!

Not that this compares to your grief but a few years ago, my email, paypal, eBay and Amazon account got hacked.

The email was the first to show up. I was watching TV with my daughter who had her laptop on and was surprised to get an email from me when I was about 6' away from her. Even more surprised that per my email I wanted to share a deal on Viagra that I had found online. And so did a lot of my friends.

eBay actually contacted me about stuff I had been trying to purchase that did not fit my purchasing profile and purchase via my PayPal account that I only keep like $5 in.

The above issues were quickly fixed.

Now all this happened right around Father's Day..

After dinner, the Mrs. and the kids trotted out my presents.

And it was an as strange collection of stuff that I had ever seen. Basically expensive junk as far as I was concerned.

Now being a grateful dad, I thanked them all and asked how they had decided to purchase these specific gifts for me.

They told me that they had just picked stuff from my Amazon.com wishlist.

I went and looked and sure enough some clown had hacked my Amazon account and was adding a whole bunch of stuff that I could care less about to my list.

We contacted Amazon and they quickly sent RMA labels and issued credits for all the goods.

I really wish our banks and law enforcement agencies could find these bastards fast and lock them away for good!
