IPV D2 BIG issue.

Hi people, I have a IPV d2 in the post/mail coming to me, should be here on tuesday.

Now, the power mode is also important to me, quite a big deal actually. I have found out, that at 7w it puts out a hell of a lot more, and appears to have no step down transformer, as it is handled via PWM in Joule mode.

Now, this take the utter P***. Say I wanted to fire a 0.5 Ohm coil at 15 watts, No can do. It would give me 27 Watts even if I chose 15, and that is a battery at 3.7 V.

I hope the temp control mode with titanium is good enough, otherwise this mod is pretty useless to me. I wanted it for its small size, and to use as an ADV due to the size, and being able to control the wattage is a big factor.

Only being able to go ABOVE what the battery outputs is no good for me really, 27W is higher than I vape usually, but I use my lemo between 20-30 watts, so will have to get used to using it nearer 30.

I will check when I receive mine, but it seems a problem that all IPV D2's have. Could people who own it on here please try to fire at 7W? See if yours has the issue? Maybe this shipement I have coming does not have the issue, I really hope not.

If it does have that issue though, it might not be the mod I am really looking for. Shame, I will test it myself on tuesday, but finding that out has really pissed me off.

I have done more reading. Apparently, using kanthal in temp mode allows it to step down. There is no temp control, so voltage will be constant and not jump around, but that is the work around. I am glad there is one. It detects the kanthal and you just use the joule mode as if it was watts.

From what I understand there are a few ways around that if you want to use lower wattage.
1. Build your coils to a higher resistance, say around 1.5 ohms
Or
2. If your builds are lower than 1 ohm, put it in TC and set the joules at approximately what you would set your wattage at. It won't temperature control but will limit the power to the joules you set

Cheers,
Steve

Yes, I found that workaround also steve. Leave it in joule mode, it will detect Kanthal so not work for TC so no voltage jumping, and then adjust accordingly. So, when I want to use lower wattages this is the workaround I will use. They said to ensure temp is set to above 500F so there is no way temp control can try to work.

Yes, I think we was typing the answer the same time lol, also above 30 W I can use power mode fine, it steps up, just not down in that mode lol.

Yeah it works fine, I got it today. My Sig is relegated to just a 75W box mod after trying the TC on this with NI200, that was great! I wasn't even sure the sigs temp control works correctly as it always burns.

Same settings on the IPV and it is MM MMM MMMMMMM! Although I can't use nickel for long, so gone back to kanthal for now with no TC, but have some ti 01 on the way, hope that doesn't give me a bad throat as well.
