There has been talk of a possible recall of the IPV6X and possibly 400 too.
It seems there is no reverse battery protection and even worst, when the batteries are placed backwards the device fires on it own at it's max wattage.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for safety however I do not feel we need to put a tag on a hair dryer telling you not to use it while in the shower or label the top of you coffee cup telling you it is hot.
    NO SHIT.
Common sense needs to be applied.
With that said, if the only problem with the device is it lacks reverse polarity protect, just don't put the damn batteries in backwards.
However, there seems to be a lot of people that need a "push" decal on a door that you can clearly not see the hinges.
    Who am I to judge.
I can say that if mine hadn't been cancelled by GB I would not have returned it for this fix.
    That's just me though.
I know how to read battery direction indicators.
Yes, I know adding this safety feature would indeed save the common user from that accidental mis-hap.

Glad I'm not the only one who is not seeing this as a big problem.

    I won't be returning either my IPV400 or IPV6x.

Can't say I have ever put a battery in the wrong way, as my eyes and brain works (sort of).

If you can't put batteries in the right way, shouldn't be using the mod in the 1st place, the battery terminals are labeled, so not hard to know which way they go in.

I think the fact that it fires at full power if they are inserted backwards is a problem. Depending on the coil material (Ni200 or Ti01) it could be dangerous.

I don't think mods should work like that? I don't think reverse polarity protection is a bad thing? They advertised it as having reverse polarity protection. They screwed up and are recalling them to fix their mistake. Nothing more, nothing less.

I can read how to put the batteries in too as I'm sure most people can. Not everyone is perfect though and people get distracted. I understand what you are saying. Heck if you need any proof that people aren't perfect look no further than P4Y advertising not 1 but 2 mods with reverse polarity protection but releasing 2 mods that fire at full-power instead. Most people aren't perfect.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Again, don't get me wrong, I am ALL for safety.
It'd be great if the protection was built in (especially since it is advertised to be so)
However if I had one of these, I wouldn't send it back at my expense to have this corrected.
I'd just be more cautious when inserting my batteries especially since they made it known.
At 65 MPH I COULD put my car into reverse if I tried, (ok maybe not on newer cars because I haven't tried things like this since the late 80s) but just because that design flaw (for safety purposes) existed doesn't mean that if there was a recall to correct that I'd take my car in.
Ok, maybe that was a bad example but I'm just saying that for some people, it may be their only mod.
If they have to send it in to be corrected they'd be without for quite a while.
All that said, they screwed up AGAIN and since I don't have a monkey in this jungle due to not owning the IPV6X, I'll keep out of it now.

Seems like someone really screwed up big time. Although I don't own any of their products, after reading what problems they have, I certainly would never buy one of their products.

I think more along the lines of the new vapor, or a kid getting a hold of one and knows nothing about the safety measures that need to be used with them. All the community needs is to have a bunch of press about how ,...... well you know the rest.

    Definitely agree.
My comments were simply for MY use.
I DO agree that the recall should take place due to the safety issue.
I was simply saying that I personally wouldn't return it for this fix.
I'd also like to point out that this return/recall is at the owners expense.
    Just incase it was overlooked.
For the newer or younger vaper, it SHOULD be corrected.

I don't think anyone purposely puts their batteries in wrong. I have done it on occasion. Granted, its been when I'm in a dark room but I have done it. That being said I think I'll wait till the bugs are out of this mod before I buy. As much as I love my IPV5 this seems to be a good practice with P4u mods. I waited a while before I bought the 5 because of all the bugs. So far I have been real happy with the ones I have. It just seems like you're better off getting a new P4U mod on the second run IMO.

Doesn't matter if you consider this a big deal or not, it's still a defect and a dangerous one which would make them liable.
How could they release it like this without checking the most basic of things.

Imagine someone in a rush/noisy environment/oblivious putting the batteries backwards and then throwing it while firing at 200W in his/her bag.
Or someone with low wattage atty taking a drag of scorching hot juice at 200W.

This is one time I haven't been quick to purchase a mod, if there is a recall due to this I am glad I have waited this time.

I do agree that for most people it won't be an issue, but if it is advertised as having reverse polarity protection, but actually fires at its maximum power then it is not good as accidents do happen such as batteries going in the wrong way.

I don't have a 6x because the damn things were sold out just about every place I looked. I do have the 400. What's important for me to know and get clarity on is why folks are inferring from the linked recall notice that clearly states its for the 6x that it also extends to the 400? The recall notice even says that it's for a certain batch range unless I'm reading it wrong?

I learned my lesson with the Sig 213.
Not likely to ever buy something in the first month again.
No new tech to get my hands on, only a new form factor. So, why rush?

Right. But my question is what proof is there to lump the IPV400 into the IPV6x recall as the OP says? I'm not seeing it in the recall or really anywhere else. I believe they are completely different chipsets. So I'm just asking for proof and clarity as to if the IPV400 is factually in the recall.

It's at the beginning of this video and it is both mods. It starts at about the 45 second mark.

Thank you Wingsfan that answers my question. Based on that I took the risk myself and mine indeed fires all it's guns. For me... It's a $45 dollar mod. I'll just be alert now not to do this.

All the VV/VW mods I have came with reverse polarity protection. I thought that was kind of like a standard issue thing.

Where does it say there is no reverse polarity protection, and it will fire at full power if the cells are not inserted properly? All I see is that 'some customers want additional reverse polarity protection'. Sounds like there is some degree already built in? I guess I just don't see where it says it will fire or that there is none already built in.

The IPV400 auto fires when the batteries are reversed. I tried it myself. The issue DOES exist. You do not even have to fully close the battery door. Is it a big problem? Not for me really. I don't have small children in the house and I am now aware of the issue. Does it affect the performance with batteries loaded as they should be? Doesn't seem to. How you want to handle the issue is up to you. I'm going to keep using mine as is for now. Unless I hear something worse on the issue.

Wow, that's a bummer. If that's the only problem then I won't cancel my order. I love the 4s and the 5, both are dailies of mine. So I still have high hopes for this one.

I know how to take care of the problem. Refuse to buy crap mods until the company fixes it. Same applies to the Sig 213. If fans of a company are willing to accept this BS, then you will keep getting it. It's exactly like the Sig 213, they put out one mod that's messed up. What do they do? Fix it? No don't be ridiculous, lets put another mod with the same exact problem, maybe no one will notice. It's shameful.

It gets frustrating I know..... I bought a Triade $176.00.... 29 days later.... The board fried... I shipped it and they tell me I should have it back in 4 to 6 weeks....... Does that sound fair ? Am I the only one ?

These people have a fucking Triade Repair Center........ How many of these shots are breaking ?

Meh, you can preach this until the end of time and be right. But the end of the day, and generally speaking...the ever growing hobbist aspect to vaping has essentially gone on to mostly eliminate any absolute need for consistent/genuine quality.

I mean seriously, how many pre-orders did this thing do before they even had more then that one skimpy youtube clip up of a working unit? Ignoring pre-order "sales" (that very rarely end up saving you any real $$$) altogether and refusing to buy ALL mods until the company actually releases a working unit to the public goes a lot further then anything else in terms of taking a stand there imo.

Not picking on any specific poster, but what is up with giving your hard earned cash to a company that doesn't provide what was promised.

"Oh I'll only use the mod in power mode."
"I'll just make sure to always put the batteries in correctly."
"Well yeah it leaks if you don't get wick exactly right and use 99% VG but its sooo good I put up with it."
"When the coils are good they can't be beat, just burn through two or three until you get a good one."

All that attitude is going to do is create more "Almost good" mods and tanks.
Quit making excuses for shoddy products. Demand your money back and file a dispute if it is not refunded.
Do you accept a burger if you order pizza? Like it if diesel was in the gas pump? Over ring at the grocery store?
Let the makers suffer a few losses and you'll see an amazing trend toward delivering what they promise.

This is exactly why I stopped messing with pre-sales and brand new products. The first run of anything these days always has issues it seems like. People complain and tons of returns happen.... Then luckily the issues will be addressed and fixed.

Brand new products are a crapshoot.

    Got a Supreme on pre-sale.
The JFC was stuck, 510 wobbly, leaking from the base and had rust marks on the AFC ring.
Made Steamcrave send me replacement parts and it ended being one of my favorites.

I love my supreme, it's been flawless so far.

I think part of 'settling' for less than promised is the hassle of correcting it, as well as frankly, this stuff isn't all that expensive compared to some things I would not settle for less over. And hey, I like hamburgers too.

So I guess that the folks that keep popping into this thread and telling those of us that own one of the mods in question what they should do don't actually own the mods?

If P4Y had said in their recall notice that if we filled out an online form they would initiate a shipment of fixed product to us and once we received this to box up the defective product at our own expense and ship the faulty product to them? I'd be all over that. I would gladly do that. But they didn't do that. Their route is to tell us to fill out the form, ship the product both ways at our expense, wait who knows how long to have the fix performed and then have it shipped back for a total of who the hell knows how long. And sorry but no I'm not willing to do that to correct an issue that I may never encounter other than by accident.

Those that are trying to compare this situation to the 213 drama are way off base in my opinion. The first glaring difference is P4U has acknowledged the problem. They might have not provided a solution that is viable to many customers but that's a personal decision to be made by the purchaser. Yes, the mod does not do one thing it's advertised to do which is to have reverse polarity protection. The 213 on the other hand has many other problems that affects the way its used on a daily basis. The 213 was supposed to be firmware upgradeable, it's not. It's supposed to do TC, it doesn't. It's supposed to have a functioning TCR, it does not. That's a huge difference from the Ipv6x scenario in my book. Again, I am in no way defending P4U but to compare the two situations is a bit unfair. Not only that but Sig was aware of the problem on the original 213 and they outright lied to their customers and said they fixed it in the Fuchai version while at the same time offering no solution to the customers that bought the original 213. Apples and oranges my friends, apples and oranges.

In my 3 and half years of vaping, I have never put a battery in the wrong way, so no I am not going to the expense of returning it, and wouldn't even if I didn't have to pay shipping, as for me personally, I don't see it a big enough of problem to return it.

Not going to create anything for the US, now 8/8 has passed, and probably a big reason for the problems with mods, as they rushed to get them out in time.

    I agree.
I've posted a few comments on this thread about how one could just not do it wrong.
Many have replied stating that it should have been made correctly to begin with.
    I agree with that too.
But to have more than 40 posts looking like ping-pong seems silly.
I agree that I should have thought more about it before stating that I just wouldn't put the batteries in backwards to solve the problem.
    That was wrong of me.
I SHOULD expect more from the manufacture.
I'll do better to think first. sometimes.
The comments of how we should force the manufacture (whether it be Sigelei, Pioneer4You, or whomever) to build better to begin with and that we wouldn't stand for second rate products......
Many times groups have tried to do similar.
ONE time a difference was made.
    It was over fuel prices.
MANY MANY thousands of people DIDN'T buy gas for a planned time frame YEARS ago.
It SEEMED to make a difference.
HOWEVER, they turned around and got us back later anyways.
IF each and every one of us ALWAYS returned every item we ever purchased for the defect that they have, it'd make ONE difference.
    ONE.
    The prices would go up.
The manufactures don't give a shit about us.
They only care about selling in volume and making mass amounts of money.
How is this different than the oil companies? Easy answer.
The world uses oil, only millions use vape gear.
Granted, our millions COULD have a short term effect on the manufactures by returning everything however they'd turn around and raise the prices on us to make their money PER ITEM instead of in VOLUME.
BY NO MEANS am I trying to state that we have to put up with this.
Just saying all these comments mean nothing by the end of the profit margin.
For those that actually have the defective product, do whatever you have to do to TRY to get them to make it right.
(however if they are making the buyer pay shipping both ways, they are getting fugged either way)
For those that do NOT have the defective item, simply ensure that the information is posted for all to see.
This ping-pong silly stuff just seems like a waste of typing/reading.
With all that said, maybe it is just me not being my normal self and the mood I'm in just has me looking at things incorrectly and maybe I should have kept to myself on this.
    Wouldn't be the first time.
    Sorry if I offended anyone.

@Rabbit Slayer I assure you I did NOT intend to reply to YOUR post.
That makes it look like I was directing that to YOU.
    It definitely was NOT.
I meant to just comment, NOT reply.

Good to know you aren't part of the problem and have it all rationalized.
Mind you, it isn't just this one, this is the one where I just said WTF.

Nope, not a chance I bought this one. Sig 213, guilty. However, I raised my issues with the maker and the vendor and got a complete refund. Didn't even pay to return it.

Which is what I'm suggesting everyone do.

You know, instead of making excuses for buying AND keeping things that aren't as they should be.
Or being pissy with those who say it's wrong.

If you get a refund, you won't pay shipping, at least to come back to you. And they get a nice box that should be hard to sell again as new.

Don't care if I was part of the problem, I bought the mod and I am happy with it and does what I want it to, not going to return it or complain about it just because others think I should, as said I happy with it and it is my choice on what to do, not anyone else's, just like it is up to others what they want to do with a mod they paid for.

Exactly what I said. Value is in the eye of the purchaser. If your good with it that's all that matters. Your money, your decision to send it back or not. Case closed.

As for the Sigelei Fuchai 213, I am very happy with it.
I will keep all 6 of them I have.
None of them are used in temp mode because I did not purchase them for that feature. (or lack there of)
The tanks/coils that I use on those mods are power mode only.
No one can take them from me, I like them just the way they are.
    Were they falsely advertised? Absofugginlutely.
Do they work the way I intended them to work? Same answer.
While I do see how one may say I am part of the problem (for this particular case) I will remain part of the problem simply because it does exactly what I purchased it to do.
As for the Pioneer4You IPV6X, I will NOT be part of the problem but that is because I do not have one yet.
I will wait until it is either corrected or I simply will not purchase one.
I wanted it for its size.
Since it is basically the same size and the Sigelei Fuchai 213, I see no reason to purchase it WHILE it has a known issue.
So THAT is MY part of NOT being part of the problem.
I have done my due diligence by letting people know it has a known issue AND I have NOT purchased one.
    Nothing more I can do.
