Ok so I'm new to vaping and I have a kangertech subox mini with a freakshow rda and 2puff 510 hybrid drip tip and I was wondering if 50 watts is enough for my setup this might be a dumb question idk

The specs I saw said it'll fire from 0.3 ohms and up. If you're building at that or above, it should be fine.

50 watts is usable, make your Coils come in at .8 or 1 Ohm and you will be good. You don't have to go low subohm on a regulated device to get a good vape.

er, OK. you have a rebuildable dripper and don't know what an Ohm is? It is a measure of resistance as in Ohm's law.

You need to spend some time learning about basic electrical theory if you are going to be building drippers. Not trying to be preachy here, but knowing what Ohm resistance your coils are at is really important. The display on your mod will tell you the volts and watts plus the Ohm resistance load of the coil.

Did you build your coil or did someone else? If you did, you need to get an ohm reader. Your mod will suffice til you do. What Zam said, though. Know what you're doing, learn about the power.

The mod should tell you how many ohms your coil is.

    This exactly.

Don't feel dumb. Vaping brings on a whole new languange. Trust me, you'll get there. Then out of nowhere people will start using abbreviations that you have to figure out. I still google a lot of them, LOL. No need to feel dumb. We just want you to vape safely. :)

Buckshot, I'm curious why you got a dripper to start out with. You might really enjoy a tank that comes with prebuilt coils that are super easy to change out. They hold more juice, too. Excellent flavor.

I've used tanks before just never owned one but so far I like the dripper better I actually like adding more juice every few hits and I bought it from a friend like it is and I don't have to buy coils for it bc my friend makes them but I'm going to try and learn how soon

Well take some time to cruise through the builders section and you'll learn a ton about coils and building. I typically vape at much lower watts, higher ohms. I'm more of a flavor chaser than clouds. If I can build coils, trust me, you can.

    Best get to learning.
Ohm meter is your friend for a regulated mod or not.
If you can tie your shoe you can make your own coils and not have to depend on the friend.

Buckshot, you'd be doing yourself a tremendous favor if you read up on some threads in the regulated mods area. Even reading specs on the mod that you have from a website that sells them will help you. Learn as much as you can about the device you're using.

If you got the Kangertech tank with your Kbox Mini then go get some .5 vertical coils for it and you can cut you wattage in half and still get great flavor and vapor. The Kbox Mini was my first subohm mod and using the tank and the stock coils for it simplifies everything so much. You can always work your way into a RBA once you learn more about Ohm's Law and coil building. Since you are new to vaping, you are probably putting the cart before the horse. Just my opinion but give it some thought. We all had to learn and start out slow so I am in no way trying to criticize.

Nothing it's just getting a mechanical mod should be more of a milestone on your vaping journey.
Having a mechanical mod is like saying "I've been there vaped that and I know Ohm's Law and will abide by it"

THEY CAN BLOW UP IN YOUR FACE, CATCH FIRE AND CAUSE YOU OR PEOPLE AROUND YOU GREAT HARM. I'm not against mech mods but you have to know everything about the batteries you can and shouldn't use. What's the purpose of silver plated contacts, the difference between a regular mechanical versus a hybrid mechanical and the correct atomizer to use etc.... Keep it simple as you learn and vape with safety in mind. We are all here to help.

It depends on how warm of a vape you want. The lower the ohms the less resistance. It'd help me out if I could see your coil, or if you could describe it to me. I usually hit my mods on 50-120 watts. But I'm using coils that require more power to prevent a slower ramp up time. uploadfromtaptalk1447855412354.jpg

So i have a kbox mini and it will do fine with your rda . Keep in mind that if you try and build your ohms as low as it can hndle you are going to be turning your watts up to heat the coil to a decent temp to get the could you are looking for. I have found that building around a .5 seems to work best your not stressing the little guy out to get a decent result. If you want bigger and more you are going to have to upgrade there are alot of different options for aorund the same price you paid to the mini. BTW excellent little mod.
