Kanger Mega Dual Coils in Subtank Mini

I did a search on this and didn't find any threads. If I used the wrong key words and this discussion exists I want you to know I at least tried to avoid redundancy.

I watched a Youtube video by "kindlot" regarding this subject. He put an aerotank coil in a Kanger Subtank and it worked. I have the Subtank Mini, which I now use with the RBA base. I was previously using the Kanger Mega and have a lot of the dual coil heads for that tank. They were now just sitting there saying, "Use me, we're ready!"

To add to this, I am now hooked on the DNA 40 temp control. I purchased the temperature sensing coils ( ouch! ) and rebuilt many of the kanthal dual coils for the Mega as NI200 single coils. So I had a grip of coils that were now just sitting there, unused and, collecting dust. After watching Nick (aka "kindlot") put an Aero coil in his Subtank I decided to give it a try in my Subtank Mini . . . it works great!!! No leaks, tight seal, lots of vapor and more room for juice (if you use a Q-tip to plug the chimney tube first o_O).

So if, by chance, you are like me and have a stash of Kanger dual coils and made the move to a Subtank or Subtank Mini you can use up those old coils. This probably wasn't in Kangertech's design so there may be a chance it won't work for you but hey, it's worth a try . . . Nick and I are using up our old coils and maybe you can too.

Since I mentioned filling the Subtank Mini when using a Kanger Dual Coil by plugging the chimney with a Q-tip I thought I'd show how I do this for those who don't know what I'm talking about.

Setting up the work area (the toothpick is an extra left over from epoxying in the USB charging board into the Zero Modz Clone after transplanting a DNA 40 board. It will not be used):
Step 1.jpg
Next, uncapping the Subtank Mini for refill - note the Mega coil head ;):
Step 2.jpg

Putting the Q-tip up the chimney tube- (keep it clean folks :p)
Step 3.jpg

A side view showing the Q-tip hanging out the underside:
Step 4.jpg

The Q-tip has been cut so the tank can sit flush on the table. This monkey isn't so nimble as to keep from dropping or tilting out the juice. A flat stable surface is my friend!
Step 5.jpg

I fill the tank with juice close to the top. This isn't a precise practice, I just put it in until its close to where the glass is first covered by the threaded end of the stainless cage.
Step 6.jpg

Push the Q-tip out of the chimney sleeve with coil chimney and button it up.
Step 8.jpg

A full Kanger Subtank Mini using a Kanger Mega Dual Coil Head. I admit to a little mod porn by showing the Zero display with temp reading confirming it was converted to a DNA 40 board :). A nod goes to "Fury" (on VU) regarding the Zero DNA 40 transplant, his post regarding this modification was very helpful.

I do hope this is useful to those who ventured down the rabbit hole following this thread.

What head are you using? It looks like the one I have in my Evod2 tank.
