my pic files on my PC= wtf !

i just noticed i have dupilicate pics of nearly all of them. the original pic and a duplicate that has a (1) with the file name.

i had that happen on my last computer. 2000+ pics turned into 4000+


so, does anyone know how this could happen ? i didn't "knowingly" do it.
W10, EDGE.

does anyone know how to undo it ?

well sounds like a case of copy & paste in the same folder... you could attempt a search of that folder with the wild card *(1).extension and delete them you may lose a few but that might be the best batch removal i can think of.

What are the pictures taken with? An actual camera or a smart phone? How are the file moved to the PC? Automatically or manually?

most, if not all = phone, J3 Luna.

i usb plug in phone. the computer automatically detects and starts looking for pics. new pics are auto checked. i click download.
been doing this for months. the double pics just started.

Try Scandisk and Defrag. And possibly reboot, if you haven’t already. Those are the easiest fixes for Windows.
