This shit is getting annoying. The navy based all of their survey data on an old statistic before the FDA regulates another of the mods. Plus people can't read the instructions and warnings about proper/improper use.

Stationed on Theodore Roosevelt, San Diego.

If I was still in I think I would be a lot more than annoyed. So how hard are they cracking down? Being as you are on a carrier. I would think there are a lot of places to stealth vape unless they are conducting massive searches for contraband vaping supplies?

They check bags at the gate but not extensively.
I vape in the signalshack behind the bridge some im good there lmao but at sea it's a whole new ballpark which makes it harder. If anyone possess a vape and is caught they go to mast.

Damn that's very messed up. It was going out to sea which turned me into a full time smoker back in the day. Are they also cracking down on the smokers? Back Then all the chiefs had 2 things glued to their hands a cig and a cup of coffee. So I am real glad no more Haze grey and underway for SoCal ops or west pac's for me. Hope you never get caught.

I resembled that remark, and fondly remember "coke n smoke" in boot camp SanDiego!

Its called "Captains Mast" and it's also known as NJP 'non judicial punishment for minor infractions of the Uniformed laws like missing apointed place and time of duty, being late for watches and pissing off the officers aka "zeroes" resulting in a pleasant encounter with the Captain or his designated person. I got handed a article 91 in A school for not doing volunteer study time after a few days of sick call.
I was head of the class and I pissed off the wrong E6 that was a peice of work.

So basically it's like the article 15 for the army then. That's some serious bullshit

You can get nonjudicial punishment without an Article 15, i.e.: LOR and LOA.

You can try! Being very good at your job helps to keep your ass out of the fire. I was a Fire Control Technician and my Phalanx CIWS was up time over 90% so I was a golden boy with my duty section while haze gray and underway. It's a whole different world for a squid on shore duty or training command like Great Lakes. All kinds of oppertunity for trouble from the loosers in charge on that assignment. It was not the real Navy as we liked to say.

My son is in the Navy. I'm retired Air Force. After listening to him talk about different things, along these lines, I could never do Navy.

Now's not the time to sneak a vape someplace and get caught considering the ban is so new and fresh in the news and stuff. Imagine the higher ups who are covering their ass, rather than let it blow up in the media as reports of 'yet another sailor injured because of vaping'. So they go strict with the vaping suspension. Now stop and think after the Navy's imposed this, another vaper hurts themselves vaping. It would make them look like clown shoes so instead they'd be all too happy to cornhole the shit out of someone and make them an example. Especially after the shitshow with the Fitzgerald, they've had enough press for awhile. Definitely a far cry from the days when cigs were passed out as part of the c-rations lol.

Things are safer these days. Don't count on them changing their minds anytime soon either. Air Force treats us the same as smokers.

I am no longer in service (it's been about 40 years), but I am a disabled vet, and I spend a lot of time at the VA Hospital. The VA treats vapes like burning tobacco. This is pretty annoying. I was a smoker for 50 years, but since I quit smoking, I can't stand to be around the things. They make my eyes burn and water, burn my nostrils, and give me a scratchy throat. How did I DO that for 50 years?!? Anyway, at the VA, to vape, you have to go to a smoking area, where I get to enjoy all of the aforementioned symptoms. I tried vaping in a non-approved area, outside and still way away from anyone else, and was threatened with arrest. There is no proven hazard to "second hand vape", and I am told there isn't even an odor (sense of smell is one of the things Uncle took from me). My (VA) doctor has even told me I probably saved my life when I threw over cigarettes for vaping. Just what gives? Where has sanity gone in this world?

Well, I do that when my car isn't a mile away. Our hospital is so big and so crowded, I can seldom find handicapped parking, and wind up riding a golf cart in from the parking lot. :xD:

I cant believe they are actually going through with this. The new regs and crap are outta hand, even from when I got out in '09. My wifes in and I could never do it now. It seems like they send you to mast for anything. Last time I picked up cigarettes for my wife on base they told me that they were going to quit selling cigarettes in the NEX. The best part of being a civilian now is that I do all the shit I know Im not supposed to. DOD cops dont care about dumb shit and I can tell everyone else to suck a fat dick.

I think the Federal government is now worse than Torquemada's Inquisition... If you derive any kind of pleasure, it MUST be bad... Whatever happed to the concept of Liberty, you know, the right to choose your own handbasket?

As a veteran had to pop in and say thank you one and all for your service.

That and Christ on a cracker and Buddha on a biscuit, I don't miss the military.:gaah::cuss2::tantrum::xD::blech::devil:
Me....Army. 97B. Did my basic at Relaxin' Ft. Jackson, my A.I.T. at Ft. Huachuca in AZ., language training in CA and spent some time in Korea. Got out in 2003 just before all the fun started and they started hollering 'Stop Loss!" Phew!
Good times but I don't miss it. Anyhow, great big salute to all of you guys and gals in the military. Many thanks for all your hard work in both times of peace and war.

I had some similar experiences at the VA in Ann Arbor, Michigan. While the place is immaculate and efficient, there are days when you have 2-3 appointments and some of them are hours apart. If I was a cigarette smoker like I used to be for 38 years, I have a special section for me outside where I can enjoy my vice.
HOWEVER, my "vice" is now vaping since I quit cigarettes cold turkey in 2011. I picked up one of those disposable cigarettes at the gas station, and haven't looked back. So when I go outside to partake of my enjoyable SMOK G-PRIV 2 loaded with Broke Dick E-juice flavor, "PrePaid", I can count off the dirty looks, the nasty comments, and even harassment from a short, fat, black Security Guard with a superiority complex. I sat UNDER a "No Smoking" sign once, and was threatened with arrest. She ran and got the actual Ann Arbor Police who canvass the area often, and as they walked up to me, they saw no such activity. I'm not sure why people are so prejudice against Vaping. My sister-in-law sees me vaping and starts in on me about "the same ingredients as anti-freeze" going into my body, and I have to school her as she complains to my brother who is at the BBQ grill with a Marlboro Light 100 hanging out of his mouth.

I broke the news to my VA doctor about my vaping a couple of years ago, and at first, she was worried because a lot of my health issues stem from my Asbestos exposure from the U.S.S. England (CG-22/DLG-22) '78-'82. I was diagnosed with Asbestosis, and even though I said I quit cold turkey, I can also honestly say that cigarettes combined with Asbestosis can make you short of breath nearly 24/7. So I cut out the cigarettes and immediately felt better. Once I started vaping, my doctor noticed a significant healing to my lungs. Now I'm not saying that vaping HEALED me, but it certainly didn't make my condition worse. I had submitted a Disability claim so that Uncle Sam could compensate me for their error in using Asbestos as it harmed their sailors. DENIED. I applied again. DENIED. I applied once more, APPROVED with 0% rating. So now, they admit their guilt, but said my condition isn't life threatening YET. So once my Asbestosis turns to cancer, I'm sure they'll raise my rating then. :finger:

It's the attitude toward vaping that I find borderline bigoted. These people know NOTHING about what they're watching me do, and AUTOMATICALLY, it's bad. Once I was in the Library reading a newspaper. I was in a private corner away from people. I snuck a few vapes here and there, and exhaled slowly as not to become noticed. A Librarian RAN up to me and just said, "NO!". I told her, "It's just water vapor and it......." "NO!" "But I'm not hurting anyb...." "NO! JUST NO!". I'm sure if we were such bigots about something in our daily lives such as Anti-Vapor people, we'd have a major issue getting along with everybody. What I do with my body is my choice, and at this point in my YOUNG 56 years, I don't want to put anything in my body that is harmful. DO YOU KNOW that my doctor actually started to talk to me about Medical Marijuana for pain relief for my chronic back pain? YES! A V.A. doctor would rather me inhale that strong smoke, than to inhale harmless water vapor. Her excuse? "I'm afraid with your lung issues, that you may contract lung mold from the wetness of the vapor." Really. And weed is BETTER?! I got NO issues with weed, but sadly, if I smoked some of that right now, I'd hack up whatever is left of the damaged lungs inside of me. I was told to keep quiet about the discussion about Medical Marijuana because, of course, my doctor works for the Government, and while Medical Marijuana is legal in Michigan, it's STILL illegal Federally.

So yeah. Screw the anti-vaping bigots. I get them back by doing the thing they hate the most, and that's to keep on vaping.
I started vaping at 24mg nicotine, and sometimes I could get my local vape shop to custom-make me some juice with 36mg of nicotine. I can proudly say that I am now down to 3mg's, and could seriously go to 0mg, but then what would be the purpose of vaping? I don't see it as a toy. I see it as a nicotine delivery system for someone addicted to nicotine for 44 years. And if that offends somebody, I don't know what to tell you. I won't stop, and you're not going to make me.
Oh, in closing, I now DIY my e-juice. Best decision I ever made. I swear that I could sell this shit and it would make me rich! The reason I went to DIY? So I could STOCKPILE my juice for when the ban comes, and you know it's coming.

Thanks for listening to me ramble.
God Bless America, and Thank ALL Vets for their service!
