INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone and welcome to another review. Today I will be going over the Avalanche 2X700 by Snow Cap Mods. The Avalanche is a 3d printed mechanical squonker. It consists of a lightweight material, small frame size, and an 8ml squonk bottle. It works with 21700 or 20700 batteries (using included sleeves), and could even work with an 18650 if you have a spare adapter laying around. Not too often unique, custom made items come across the review queue, so needless to say, I was very excited to get to this one. The owner reached out to me to review this product. Along the way, I received some of the best communication in the business, as we worked through the design to come up with something that fit my liking. In just a few weeks time, this went from the design phase to my door, and it was time for review. Let’s get right to it eh?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Is this an empty box from China? It sure felt like it. Surprisingly enough, there was a little pouch within the box containing this absolutely tiny little squonker within. It is easily one of the most compact 21700 squonkers on the market, and due to the 3d printed body, it is extremely lightweight. The paint finish was exactly as expected, and was presented to me in many photos leading up to the delivery of this device, which also speaks to the kind of customer experience you will receive. I dug right into the guts of the device and found the fitment to be very snug with tolerances that are spot on. The bottle is a half round style, resting solid against the front of the mod, but with the rounded portion to the back for battery removal and I think this is a nice touch as well. Out of the gate, it is an impressive little device, but how does it function?

DESIGN / USE
Let’s just start at the beginning with how we get into using the thing. FIrst off, you must remove the 20700 battery adapter. This is a carbon fiber sleeve designed to make a 20700 fit the width of the device snugly. This adapter is a bit of a bitch to remove, and I suggest some small tools at the top and bottom to aid in removal. It is easier with a battery inserted, but pushing on the empty sleeve can crack the carbon. Next, you need to pop out the squonk bottle. This is about as easy as any other, with two openings on the sides to stick your fingers in and pull it out. The bottle on this thing is damn nice actually. The silicone is soft, not stinky, and has a top cap makes for easy refills with less mess. There is nothing I hate more than refilling squonk bottles and oozing liquid everywhere and this bottle doesn’t do that unless you really try to. Now that it is juiced up, pop a battery in + down. I opted for Samsung 30Ts, and these snap right in and sit secure in the device.
Bottle filled, battery inserted, now it is atomizer time. The Avalanche can fit up to a 24mm atomizer, and I opted for a single coil flavor banger this time around. With the entheon, and a .15-ohm coil primed and ready, let’s hit the button. WHOA! REALLY?! This thing hits like a truck. I was VERY surprised by this, as the size totally fooled me. It ramps up about the same as my SQ217, which up until this point was the reigning champion of mechanical squonkers that I have tried.

BUTTON
Kind of an odd topic to discuss on it’s own, but I always like to talk about buttons when it comes to mechanical devices. This, like many mechanical squonkers, has a button that presses against the bus bar assembly to make contact with the 510 pin. This device uses a thin copper bus, so the press isn’t super hard, but not very floppy either. It is a nice, firm press, with a few mm of travel before contact. One feature of the Avalanche is a locking button. You rotate the button counter-clockwise 90 degrees and it will lock in place and cannot be pressed in. For a mod this small and pocketable, this is a great feature for sure.
