I have the mod pictured below on order. I'd like to do some work to it and see if I can't polish it up to a mirror finish like the authentic and the switch and top cap on the clone. I have a few questions in hopes I don't damage the thing.
It might very well come with a lacquer coating to protect the brass. I have read that acetone works well for removing lacquer but I'm worried that it will melt the resin. Any thoughts on how to remove a lacquer coating if need be? Also, I'd like to re-coat when done polishing and I'm wondering what products are recommended?
I'd like to get the final results to have a gold, mirror like finish, but I'm worried about damage to the resin inserts. I do have some Mothers chrome polish, but I'm not sure how it will react with the inserts and if it will give me the finish I desire. Does anyone have any tips on how I could safely achieve those results?
