they also light up at different rates than the rest of your cores, and kind of act like staged heating. you can really fine tune performance and resistance of your builds through all the possible variations of material and the gauge and number of strands you use.

lots of good work over the last few pages everyone

Just thought i‘ll try to Mess around with my old Tsunami 24 Glass Window. The goal was Not to create a tidy porn worthy coil but get as much out of the kennedy airflow.

So i decided to do a double barrel vertical build. At first i wanted to make some Alien wire, but then made some SFC with 24G and 36G N80

Then coiled them over two 4mm rods 4 wraps and installed them.
They turned out @0.11 Ohms.

What Should I say... the Tsunami turned into a vaping Devil, chucks Clouds like Crazy with really good Flavour. Vaping them @130 Watts.

Got Not a Single dry Hit or cotton taste, i get around 10 Hits before the cotton gets too dry.

I finally dusted off my old iron vapin edition plume veil, polished it up a bit, polished my mod a bit, and I'm liking the look. I'm usually the first to say fuck aesthetics but that's perdy right thur. Looking forward to an even patina coming in. The coils I can't take credit for. My boy John who owns Vid's Vapor here in carson hooked me up with them to see how they perform. He calls me his mech head and coil guy. He got a bunch of these premade ss coils and wanted my take on them. I don't know the specifics but it's a tri-core fc. I want to say 32g cores with a 38g wrap. Flavors great, heats very decent. I'm liking it. I do have to say that as much as I'm liking this 26650 mech, I miss my Lucifer. I miss the raw 8.4 v of raw power a series mod can throw around. I've been considering getting the Wismec noisy cricket with the upgrade kit but I'm thinking I need to buckle down and spend a few late nights finishing my mod. Nothing so far touches the heat, flavor, and satisfaction a series mod with a beefy coil provides.

I'm in the process of building my own wooden 18650 series box mod from scratch but I need something in the meantime. I've had my eye on the noisy cricket from Wismec with the upgrade kit. I've owned 3 Lucifer mods over the last couple years...all of which have broken/melted/etc. I "Frankensteined" one out of all the usable Lucifer parts and that lasted for a while. Bottom line...I need a relatively inexpensive series mod and short of the Lucifer clone and Noisy Cricket I can find nothing. Any information on a specific model or distributor would be appreciated. Or...if any of you have a series mod laying around you don't use and would be open to sale or trade I'd be happy to talk to you further as to what we could negotiate.

check out the noisy cricket II. it can run in unregulated series, regulated series and unregulated parallel modes. it has some protections on it, like low battery cutoff and it wont fire below .2 in unregulated series, or too much below .1 in parallel. theres a 22 or 25mm version, its tough as nails, and its pretty cheap.

My boy at Vids said he was looking at stocking the cricket 2 and wanted me to check it out to see if they're worth it. I'd be interested in trading you Brody I'm just a cheap bastard with limited vape equipment. The only things worth trading I have would be my buddha(v2?), my goon, and my diablo rta.

Nothing spectacular compared to other builds I see on here but 3rd time building I used 32x26 gauge kanthal a1 Clapton wire it's nothing special but I feel pretty satisfied with how it puts out for my 3rd time its about as strong as the tfv8 baby beast. They came out so good I didn't even have to manipulate the shape after wrapping because the ohms of each coil matched and the center to outer heat up spread was perfect and they were heating up at about the same rate of speed maybe one was heating up milliseconds faster than the other

Fancy builds don't necessarily give a fancy vape. Use whatever build is best for YOUR vaping style. In fact, many people prefer a simple spaced Clapton coil over other builds.

Messin' around with some square wire today just because it's been here a while and I really haven't done much with it..

0.3x0.3 N80.

jvnReGe.jpg

Made a couple of fused Clapton coils

MIclFhG.jpg
GjgzgkM.jpg

Then a 6 core version

3bv8gmb.jpg
An3XrZ0.jpg

Easily enough for a couple coils, but not sure what yet. It's pretty low in resistance, so I may end up with a couple single installation coils.

Damnit I want some square wire so bad to play with in stagg/corrugated builds. I just absolutely refuse to pay 15$ for 100' of wire!!

Haven't built anything in a week or two because I've been so busy. This is my first time using anything over 40g. Also my first time wrapping a ribbon build at full speed on my corded drill. Pretty happy with the results but there are a few spots where the wrap is a little thin/spaced. Any suggestions on how to make the wrap tighter? I assume I just need a tighter angle but I didn't want to wrap over itself.

2x28g ss316l, 8x0.3 ss316l ribbon, 44g n80 wrap. Ohms at 0.07 and is vaping great at 80w/485f on my triade DNA250.

I haven't got any advice you probably don't know yet. I just have to take it a bit slower than full whack to get it right

Hahaha

Lowest I’ve got at the moment is 24g ....I’ll have to figure out what I can get away with using that for 3x

Save your money. A regular fused Clapton vapes better. And an equivalent (18 ply) staple coil will vape much better than the 6 core I did.
btw I wasn't trying to be an ass about KP chef
No worries - never even entered my mind that you were.

Nice one for the update Chef. Much appreciated. I will probably still try it though as I was think of using it as a staggered center core and fusing ribbon either side of it.

Yeah, I'm still thinking of maybe using it for frames of some sort. It has it's uses, but not necessarily as the star of the show.

Oh yeah - I said that 'cuz I tried a coil with the 6 core. 5/6 wrap 4.0mm ID. Put it in a Govad. It vapes okay, but not great. Definitely not as good as a standard staple coil with the equivalent mass.

Do you just know this from experience? I'm wondering how you got to this. I only know to use 3 cores of whatever gauge the decore is. I would really like to know for myself how to figure out what size decore I need for aliens. If I want a 4 core alien do I just find the surface area of the cores and divide by 3 to find the decore size?

I know because raymo told me, we chat a little bit
My experience is from people like raymo tho and some trial and error of my own. I'm making a tsuka now which it in nature is you guessing going "ehhhhhh that's about rightish ish ish"
Also my experience with aliens is ... That 3:1 chart is for when your new. As time goes on you find what gauge you use and what material you use for the alien can be manipulated ALOT. A 3:1 1.2 would suggest 26G decore but I know that 40G SS alien is very pliable so 24G decore is easier them trying for a perfect stretch off what a chart says.
4x 28G also is technically a 26G decore but we all use 24G decore, so yes 5x 28G is 22g decore because raymo made 80,000,000 aliens then said so... I believe him

Sorry guys...just been insanely busy the last few weeks with a few things and I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.

I use 22g for the 5 core 28g cores as mentioned previously (thanks @Jriley)

You can use 24g but its a pain in the dick, make sure to go slow and bit by bit with a ribbon slider or core holder

Finally nailed my Most tricky Alien Build so far, Interlocked Stitched Fraliens. Took 8x0.3 with 29 Frames, interlocked with 36 and stitched with 42 all N80. The decore was on 24 so a bit above the 3:1 ratio.
Made 5 wraps @3mm.
Calculated 0.09 - 0.1 Ohms.
But After all the hardest Part is the Time consuming prep, since it is Very easy to Break the 42 in Every step. Decided to do one decore for one coil each, and it worked.

3B998182-91C0-41FA-9D65-E9157C6567A5.jpeg

Think next step will be interlocked and maybe stitched enigmas, the normal enigmas i found relatively easy Compared to the ISF (interlocked stitched Fraliens)

Nice!!! I've done stitched fraliens, but not with the interlock option. How do they vape?
Thanks Bro
Lets be honest, you have to be a vape Nerd to tell a difference between those fralien variations. But yes, since i call myself a vape Nerd i CAN tell a difference.
Fraliens in my opinion offer a warm, dense vape with an uncompared smoothness, zero to no spitback, decent ramp up and cool down and excellent wicking. I like Regular Framed Stapels, but the Alien wrap brings them to life.
Ever fired a Framed staple without topcap and watched the vapor exhaustion? Normally they spit out vapor from a few spots while Fraliens pump it out on the whole Surface.

The Alien wrap itself Has Unique properties. But These properties are topped By interlocks. If done Right, that means
With suitable wire sizes and tight wrapping. In my opinion the alien wrap looses its properties when spaced out and simply holds the wire together like any other wrap.

So i tested my interlock stitches in my Avocado24 @ 124 Watts. They Came out @ 0.095 Ohms.
As far as i can tell there are even better wicking capabilities than normal interlocks. With a minimal more wire mass and thickness with the Added 42G the vape is a bit warmer.
it obviously isn't a world of a difference, but they are now officially my New favourite son of the Alien Family. I made so far 2,3,4,6,8 Core Aliens, Fraliens, corrugated Fraliens, Alien Staggs, Interlocked OR stitched Aliens + Fraliens and enigmas and Mohawks.
You may give those a try, they are fun to make and Look Great :inlove:

So I got tired of dripping every couple puffs and the restricted airflow of the plume veil and decided to get Something...anything into my aeronaut that would heat up faster on this Boss than that last build. Haven't any time lately to build so I decided to look at some unused coils and scraps I had laying around. Decided on staging this fucker so ran to the garage and twisted a couple ribbon wires. Took the last build I posted in this fucker and basically cut the coil in half. Then took a cable core alien I never used and threw em together and this is what I got.
8949535000070839a073eaf1b0ec11de.jpg

Definitely not the prettiest bastard ever but holy fuck does it vape on this mech. It's a fog machine plain and simple. Easily the flavor I've had since my lucifer took a shit. Nice hot vape you want to keep puffing on.

That was at about 3/4 of a sec ramp.
cbcc96228638c2417a8f4b35881970e8.jpg
9ba613d0ce1d372cfaf2cf09c7bed9e9.jpg

If I remember the particulars...
Wire 1(cable core alien):each cable n80 40g x 3 x 3....36g n80 alien wrap
Wire 2(staggered): cable core 40g n80x6+36g n80x2...28g KA frames w/38g KD stagger...2x40g n80 twisted for the fuse.
Wire 3(twisted): 2x.5x.1 n80
.19
+_3.8id
I forgot who asked me why I use cables so much recently. It wicks incredibly well while allowing you to have a quicker ramp time and cool off. Throw a cable core into just about any build and it'll allow it to shine in a way wouldn't have otherwise. I'll choose a cable core over a staple any day of the week.

Very Badass Bro ! Real Fallout Style, guess this is something MAD Max would vape riding on his Tank bike on his way to the thunderdome :D

So how do you Build your cable cores? Just Twisted Fine gauge?

Made one myself about a year ago.
If i rememer Right, it was a SFC with 29G Frames and 36 stagger and Fuse. The Core i think 10-15 40G kinda helixed with 30G?!!
They had a real good vape with a Great staging effect.
