For a 2 post RDA i would definitely go with the Anarchist/Aria Built Phenotype-L. There is literally no build it cannot handle. The only problem is it can be tricky using smaller builds (5-7 wrap plain round wire) because of the distance between the posts. But it handles like a dream with the more advanced builds. WELL worth the money. As a builder i wouldn't recommend anything else for under $100. I use it all day every day :p

It's a killer combo, i have not touched another atty/mod combo in over 3 weeks haha. The 510 is a little sketchy for a hybrid though, i would check to make sure it sticks out a little when you screw it all together :D You just gotta be real careful with the mod because it's really easy to put the batteries/atty/button in wrong. But the Pheno is perfect for series building because of the deck space. I would certainly get a couple fresh sets of batteries as well. With a little bit of care though this setup is insanely satisfying :p

Absolutely!! I have seen the pheno fit some crazy stuff. I love the noisy cricket and I don't even have it yet! Ha-ha! And I always get two sets of new batteries for new mods.. I like to keep batteries married and to a mod. Thanks!

I know the Twisted Messes atty is cool, but I think I want to go with a Two post atty for a change!

First build on the Crius. Kept it simple, as I'll be using it on my iStick 50W when I'm out-n-about. I prefer to drip at home. I got involved in the wicking and forgot to take pics of the wicking process - sorry. Vapes like a dream at 50 watts.

The V3 is what I have. I originally ordered a V1 without knowing there was a V3, but I was able to cancel the initial order and get the V3.

After a decent ramp up yes it kicked some vapor and flavor out. I should have loosly twisted the 32 in order to make more grooves and slightly lower resistance in hopes of a better ramp up and a touch more flavor.

Also to the "bigger atty" question. Get a mutation xl. 26650 sized mutation that has deck space for days. Just don't expect flavor like you get from a 18mm atty

I'm looking into the phenotype and the velocity. Also the petri... But I do NOT want to spend that kind of money on a RDA.. Hear someone I know doesn't like the velocity says he can't get any flavor out of it. But VU likes it, there's a reason lol.

Bullshit. It has awesome flavor. As much as the RDA, the build will affect the flavor, as well. Very much so. I just took out what I thought was gonna be an incredible flavor build (it wasn't) and put in my "go to" build - 2 kanthal cores, nichrome wrap, nichrome staging. It tastes great.

Thanks chef. I think phenotype is winning so far, just in price and space for builds.. Not at all settled though.

I have had enough bad clone RDA's that I decided not to use clones anymore. The Troll RDA was my go to RDA for several months but it is alittle tight for the larger clapton builds. I had decided to get a TM rda and was looking around a pricing when I found it at eciggity.com. They were running a 30% off sale. I had also been looking at the reviews on the velocity. All the reviews of the Tobeco clone were just as good as the original. The clone has a peek insulator and was only $9.99. With the original being OOS every where I decided to give the clone a try. The Tobeco Velocity clone is now my ADV and I use the TM rda for my crazy builds. I am VERY glad I decided to try the Velocity clone.

Got to play with the SS some more tonight. I wasnt getting a warm vape with the single coils I decided to try quads in the velocity. I probly try either a twisted or clapton build in the TM at some point.
    VelocityQuad.jpg VelocityQuad2.jpg

They are working great and give nice warm and dense vape at 125 w 510F.

Haha! He does some cool builds, but I think he runs a lot of watts and likes more airflow than the velocity offers.. That's what he was kind of getting at.

I prefer a moderate temperature vape, not super hot. So I don't use all the airflow in the world. One reason I don't like bottom airflow RDAs. My mutation xs (mini 4) sucks for flavor. Ew.

I hear ya on this. I bought a velocity mini clone when they came out because I didn't want to drop that kind of money. Ended up loving it. Gonna buy a regular full-size for bigger builds. Love the mini though.

Dont buy no-name clones, buy Tobecco and other 1:1 clones or expect it to fail in every aspect. I have spent just as much in clones that Ive dumped into authentic gear and if you buy a true 1:1 then you cant tell the difference between them. It also depends on the rda thats cloned...some are just garbage whether its authentic or not...
I bought my Tobecco Velocity Clone off ebay for $8 shipped and its a stand up clone and the only reason I considered it was that it was a Tobecco clone, if it wasnt Im sure the insulator or screws would have obliterated by now.

I got my velocity mini come from fast tech. Cost $6-$8. Feels solid and has been great. Only downside is the top pops off easily. I threw a second o-ring on and it is a lot better now.

My only gripe with the phenotype was you have to make smaller diameter coils, like 2-2.5mm especially with anything like a Clapton. It sucks they put the airflow control on the inside of the barrel, if it was on the outside like a twisted messes it would kick ass. It is a good atty though just has a slight learning curve

A friend broke his Plume Veil clone's center post/pin so I fixed it temporarily with a Hobo V2.1 center post/pin and gave him a new build.

Yes it heats up and the reason I did 6 wraps is the 24g heats up and by the time the center 4 wraps of 24g heat up the center wraps of fused clapton catches up and then it goes from there...almost a perfect ramp up and it can be useful anywhere from 40w-110w....but the .16 ohms cut out a few devices, im sure a few more wraps or thinner staging wire would help it out.

I think next time I do this same build Ill build duals, vertical with 3 cores (Triangle Style) and then used 22g for Staging and throw it in the Velocity. Should be a great setup for it. Unless you try these micro fused builds you cannot appreciate them, they wick like fused claptons but dont require any ram up time and give a great vape at more reasonable wattages. They can be used in RTAs with small decks and small RBAs also, its a great compromise between a heavy duty build and something small and effective.

My wife Goblin Mini will receive a build similar to this shortly, 36g/44g Fused Claptons (This RTA is what started all this Micro/Nano Fused Clapton stuff for me)

Awesome Ray. I don't have the skills yet for those micro claptons but they sure do peak my interest!

I'm going to have to get me some 24g been too long since I built with it!

That's not necessarily true-i have dual 8 wrap 30/36g aliens w/ a 3mm inner diameter and i have room to spare :p 3mm is all i build and i've never had an issue with it being too large on any of my Pheno builds :D

So I'm curious - What are the benefits of a vertical build over a horizontal one? Or is it just a different way to build.

The velocity seems to benefit from them along with some RBA's, tall chambers usually do benefit from them as it warms more of the interior area as the vapor travels upward. There isnt any real benefit other then that unless your airflow is slanted or straight up and down. On the Velocity is provides a warmer vape without needing bigger coils and its easy to drip directly onto the cotton as it sits just below the mouthpiece...also theres little to no spitback with vertical builds.

Also with the Fused Claptons I made you can see the flat sections at like ledges for juice to seep into on its way down the coil, adding to the coils wicking properties....I just took this build to 150w on the snow wolf and its a dream, I wish the SW didn't pulse afterwards because I believe this build could handle the full 200w without being overly hot with the airflow wide open. Even with 150w with the cotton soaked I can get 4-5 long inhales in before it starts to get dry...

    @raymo2u
Thanks - I'll try one soon in my Velocity. Do you recommend lower or higher gauge builds? I'll probably be trying it with a staged fused Clapton.
