Shame on you is right.
You tried to mislead new vapers/DIY mixers away from making their own juice by fear mongering.
The math is too complex?
Apparently noobies attempting DIY is bad for the environment
Spewing a pathetic pile of shit, FUD and hype.
They've just made my FUCK OFF Vendor list ..................
It's too bad there wasn't some sort of venue for us new DIYers to learn about safety, recipes, flavour percentages, suppliers and help with the COMPLEX math. Oh wait .... there is. It's called the INTERNET where you can find a handy search engine called GOOGLE!! Ever heard of it AVV?
These tools will not only lead us to a plethora of DIY information, suppliers and calculation tools but also to great FORUMS such as this one where we can learn about shifty self-serving ejuice vendors such as Aspen Valley Vapes!!
P.S. And if you want a visual aid there's this really neat website called YOUTUBE!! How crazy is that??
Also ... it's funny how they're not overly concerned about batteries ...
Apparently they'll show their customers about proper battery safety but don't seem inclined to teach them about nicotine safety or anything regarding DIY ejuices. That's the impression I get from reading the DANGERS of DIY ejuice blog.
Maybe we should all be going to them to get a pre-charged battery and have them inspect it and put it in for us?
Soooo... @Aspenvalleyvapes you think those of us who DIY are idiots and are going to hurt ourselves. And shocker of shocker we may have to use MATH??? I guess we shouldn't make our own coils either, because, wait for it, that takes MATH!
This is the most activity you have had on your vendor forum here on VU. I'm sure this is not the kind of activity you want to have. I don't know how you are going to fix your problem since you have lost the good will of a lot of folks. Anyway that's your problem, not mine. I've spent enough time on this, I need to go use MATH and make some coils and mix some ejuice...
What a bullshit article. I needed a good laugh this morning hahahaha.
DIY IS HRD, Bi OUR STUFZ INSTED.
I've actively promoted DIY numerous times and across multiple platforms including YouTube. I'm not happy with the post and we've taken internal action (you can see the posts date), but the goal was not fear mongering or anything along those lines.
Who and all that are responsible for this pile of shit hack job of an article need to be fired or at the very least demoted to a position of no responsibility (maybe scrubbing the shitters). That and you need to post in it's place a sincere apology for this hack job.
This article has significantly fucked your reputation and business.
You may also want to read the other comments here>>
As much thought went into their explanation as went into the other bullshit. I understand not everyone has the same level of communication skills, but if it were my business being pilloried on the net, I would try to be a bit more convincing and sincere.
Your reputation is fucked!
Kinda like McDonald's saying that if you try to make a hamburger at home you are going to die a horrible death!
I wanted to like some of the comments in this thread but I couldn't figure out how to press the like button one time.
I guess the math was too hard to figure out.
So the picture of the guy with something Exploding is not what you might call Fear Mongering?
Please link an article about an explosion occurring while mixing juice.
You'll never receive a penny from me in the future.
They cite "experts" in the danger area": For this reason, many experts will tell you that you should have at least six months to a year worth of experience with vaping before you even think about making your own e-juice."
I've never heard this so-called "expert" advice before and wonder who these so-called "experts" are and what exactly it is that makes them experts at DIY?
In defense of Aspen Valley Vapes, you all sucked well before the article.
If you're not happy with the post then why is it still up? Or why is there not some sort of retraction or even side note on the page correcting the issues? The post went up on Jan. 19th and on Jan. 20th alone you had 33 negative comments underneath it. But for some reason it took you over 40 days to even make a statement about it.
WOW - You must REALLY think we're dumb! So here's some simple math for ya ...
Aspen Valley Vapes creates insulting and demeaning blog post + tiny little blurb about their intent - any attempt at correcting the original blog post = NO MORE BUSINESS!!
Now I have to go make some ejuice in my high-tech lab after watching some vids about complex math and chemistry!
The post got blown way out proportion; as you may or may not know, we're always writing content to help out both new vapers and experienced vapers. If you look at the title of the post, it says MAY not be a good idea for beginner vapers to start making their own e-liquid. When people are interested in DIY, i've always directed them to /r/diy for some recipies.
Since we've been in this industry we've been huge vaping advocates. I can count on one hand how many companies flew out to Washington, D.C. to meet with the FDA & OMB back in Dec. of 15' prior to them finalizing the deeming regulations, and while we're not nearly one of the biggest companies, we still went out there to fight for this industry.
Blown out of proportion?
No it's not and you've yet to retract the hit piece FUD article and post an apology.
Enjoy having your reputation and business being fucked.
You really need to spend some money and hire a person who can communicate effectively.
The article was very effective in communicating their anti-diy stance. It's not the messenger but the message.
And their pure hypocrisy as pointed out in the other thread
Most places with an employee who wrote something that damaging to the business as a whole, would FIRE that employee, and DEFINITELY take down the offensive article, while posting effusive apologies about said article.
I did social media management for the company I work for. I still write all the blogs and most of the newsletters. More than likely whoever wrote didn't do so without someone else seeing it first. But i dont know how they run things over at AVV
Yep this bullshit they spew out of their pie hole is like if McDonalds came out with an ad campaign with the dangers of cooking at home
Instead of their absolutely brainless passive-voice "I'm lovin it", instead of an active-voice "I love it." I guess good grammar wouldn't be ghetto enough.
Sounds to me like you're just busy defending your blog post and telling everybody how much you support the vaping community. I would think that instead of being so proud of your accomplishments you would be able to see that this article HAS INDEED offended many people on quite a few different levels. As I mentioned in another thread as a new DIYer I could somewhat see what you were trying to say but there are far too many negatives and not enough solutions except to buy juice from AVV.
Why not make a simple apology stating that you didn't intend for the article to be taken the way it was and that it was very obviously poorly worded ... etc. etc. Sometimes you have to do what is necessary whether you agree with it or not to keep the business going.
'But why make e-juices when you can use companies like Aspen Valley Vapes to satisfy your vaping needs?'
As somebody else mentioned this doesn't sound like directing people to online sources for DIY! And because it costs $3 to make 50ml.
'And you are going to assume a lot of risks when you attempt to do it.'
What other 'RISK' is there besides Nicotine?
'For this reason, many experts will tell you that you should have at least six months to a year worth of experience with vaping before you even think about making your own e-juice. Truthfully, that probably won’t give you enough time to learn everything you need to know to do it.'
Which EXERTS? I have been vaping for a 1-1/2 years but now that I've started DIY I don't see any reason why I couldn't have started it a few months after I started vaping. I've learned how to DIY in a few weeks ... and if I can do it others certainly can. I'm by no means and expert or experienced at it but I already have friends that say my juice is good and they want some. I didn't learn how to mix the juice BECAUSE I've vaped for so long. That's just absurd.
'If you make a batch of e-juice and it doesn’t taste the way you want it to, chances are you’re not going to vape with it.'
Uhhhmmmm ... YES I will. Unless it's absolutely disgusting!
'Before you decide that you want to make your own e-juices, you’ll need to come to terms with the fact that you’re going to waste more products than you’ll actually create when you’re starting off.'
I just started and I haven't found this to be true at all. In approx. 3 weeks I've wasted maybe $10 worth of liquids .. and that's probably a bit high. But I've also made approx. 200ml of good vapable juice. According to my Ejuice Calculator (which makes ALL that complex math SOOO easy) ... 200ml would cost me $12.14. Add in the $10 of wastage and that's $22.14. I'd bet that 200ml of juice from you would cost a fair bit more than $22.14. And the added bonus is that like anything else as you learn the wastage decreases.
I'm sure I could go on but it's really getting tiresome trying to explain it. If you haven't figured out what all the negativity is towards your blog post then so be it. I'm sure you'll have time to reflect on it later!
I wasted ONE HELL of a lot more money on crappy ejuice I ordered online and even some I had tasted locally, than ANY amount of wastage I've suffered of flavors, PG/VG, or nic. Those items are pretty dern cheap... Ejuice, with a 1000% markup, is definitely NOT cheap. And just the 1000% markup is plenty of reason to make your own! If the markup was 100% or even 250%, I could maybe go along with it, since everyone's gotta make a living. But the OUTRAGEOUS markup of pre-made ejuice.... no fucking way. Only total newbies will pay that, because they don't know any better.
Easiest way to fix this is to just take down the article.
No, you don't owe an apology. That's just the society we live in saying you have to say I'm sorry every 5 minutes.
Just be smart and take the article down and move on. Especially if you think it was worded wrong.
Unless of course you like all the negative attention, or you are betting it's going to blow over soon.
"Before you decide that you want to make your own e-juices, you’ll need to come to terms with the fact that you’re going to waste more products than you’ll actually create when you’re starting off."
This is actually the most absurd thing they said.
Raise your hand if you've ever bought a juice online or B&M and found you didn't like it when you got it home.
Yesh. Me too. I have a freaking bitchload of juice I'm never going to vape because "it sounded good."

Lately I've been cleaning out some old crap, and came across several bottles of Halo ejuice, which were bought 3 yrs ago.. and promptly forgotten, they were so awful! But I plan to dump them and clean the bottles for re-use; glass bottles are keepers even if what's inside is total crap!
Yeah, I have way more unvapable commercial juice here than I ever had that was DIY'ed.
yep and yep - except I pif commercial juice pretty quickly if I don't care for it
Yup --- they are real sincere about the article being wrong --- Article is still there ... it is past end of business day ...
They were even stupid enough to post it on their Facebook Page --- but, they don't have much of a following on there apparently. They only took a "small" bashing.
haha,, i must have watched 100 videos on mixing when i was still buying premade ejuice,, then i decided to try it,, ever so careful,,,,,,now its like 2 or 3 minutes for 1 6 flavor recipe (my adv for almost a year) and since i dont always use nic all of my recipes are 'safe' to bathe in lol. nic is added at point of use when desired.,,,,,,a little glass bottle with a labeled baby dropper to count drops or 1ml of nic. (and yes,, its 100mg nic and i dont give it a second thought other than shaking it real good and dont lose a drop.)
i decide to 'do something' with my left over c/j,, i piffed some,, but i dont know many vapors........so i started trying those old juices out again a couple of weeks ago,,,,,,,,,wow,, i was ordering strong stuff (double flavor shots etc)......but i found i am liking them if i treat them like a flavor,, i put 5 to 10% in my base (neat) and they are not bad
ditto to my early recipes,,,,,,,,that stash i wouldnt wish on someone i didn't like hahaha.. that stuff may take me a year to dilute and consume,, before i give up and pour them down the drain.
I don't usually say anything on here, if I see something I don't like I ignore it, same with people, but this takes the cake.
I started to DIY pretty much as soon as I started vaping. The highly complex maths were so hard, I quit immed.......... what a load of bollocks. I didn't, I enjoyed making my own great tasting juice and saving money in the process.
Is this company by any chance shutting down, and this is some kind of joke? Even if they wasn't planning on shutting, I have a feeling they might be soon after this- and they STILL haven't taken the page down.
Whats really shocking, is that the article is still up and running
I had to write on the article comments, I thought this was beyond belief.
I said -
You have just essentially killed off your business if you leave this up.
It is complete rubbish as you know- mixing your own juice IS simple, and you DO just mix the ingredients to ‘magically’ make your own juice. It is simple, and you are making it sound like you need a degree, or that everyone else is too dumb to be able to do any math.
Due to this, I feel you should stop selling batteries- to use these safely, you need to calculate using maths. As your customers are not intelligent enough to do this, surely for their own safety you should stop selling them.
Great points Conan indeed, but looks like they ignored every comment on there, must be hundreds of them by now. At least we now have seen this vendors true greedy colors.
Well done, sir.
In all honesty he's just waiting for this to blow over and it will.
Anywhere he sponsors or is a vendor isn't going to ban him as they want to keep taking his money.
His current customers won't leave him over this because if they like his juice they will buy his juice.
DIY vapers like me won't hurt his business because I wasn't buying from him in the first place.
Really all this has done is drive people to his site to see what is going on or to rant which raises his web prescence and possibly drives up the amount he is able to charge advertisers on his site.
Personally I think he is an ass but from a business perspective it was a calculated risk.
Thus the reason to call fucktards like this Stool Sample business out.
When ever you see them post bring up this piece of shit article up. That will affect any future customers and will affect some of their customer base. For if I was doing business with them I'd certainly tell them to fuck off and buy elsewhere.
This has got to be the one of the biggest screw-ups ever written for advertising..... ROFLMAO
After having just spent the last 3-4 months researching vaping (including mixing), I can say with out a doubt that I won't be buying anything from them....
So Aspen Valley Vapes' website was down during much of the weekend for "maintenance". Today, it's back up. And guess what's still there?
