My favorite mod fell into a cup of water last night. I left it outside as I didn't want to touch it. In fact I poured the cup onto the concrete porch with the mod in it just in case. No issues with it blowing up overnight.

I used it for a few hours this morning after using compressed air on it and all was good but now I get a message that says Shorted on the display. It is a Smoant Charon if that makes a difference. This is my favorite mod because it gives a good hit right up until the batteries run out. My other mods seem to trail off when the batteries get below 20%. It's so good, in fact, that I bought a second Charon a couple of weeks ago.

I've got other mods so it's not a problem, but I really like this one and am wondering if it's salvageable.

You should remove the batteries, then submerge the mod in a bowl of rice. Honestly, the batteries should have been removed immediately, but you can still try to save it. Also, you shouldn't have used the mod until you were absolutely positive there wasn't any moisture in it.

If you can take it apart to dry do so...once apart and if you have 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, literally just dump it over everything, use a tooth brush and work it in the tiny spots...and then let it dry... seriously only takes about a minute for the Iso_A to displace all the liquid and dry.

Put it back together and vape away.

If it still gives you the warning then you killed it somehow.

But yeah, no batteries installed why cleaning ;)

If you dont have the means to take it apart, you can pour the alcohol into a bin and just dunk the whole mod ( again no batteries ) in and swish around.

I recently did that to one of my cheapy mods lol...just dumped into an alcohol bath haha

After it fell in the water I wasn't too keen on touching it in any way, least of which would be to deal with the batteries. I did remove the batteries this morning and it was working fine after the compressed air bath. If it's dead then it's dead. No use crying over spilled milk. Mods aren't excessively expensive. And the tank is fine.

If I wind up getting a new mod what do you think is the best sub-$100 one out there?

I guess you need to change your behaviors, then.

@So619Cal is on the right track: dump the cells (air and rice); disasm; air; Isopropyl; air; let it all evap. Re-asm and you MAY be ok.. If you fire it even moist, it can short somewhere and may never work right again.

Aegis legend at 200w then, (water resistant) Aegis 100w is water proof... anyway good luck with whatever you decide on grabbing.

Let's not go crazy on the water issue. This was a one-time event. It's not like I'm constantly dropping things in water all the time.

I thought the 120w was more laughable.

If you’re not that worried about water, and don’t do tc- try either the tac21 or double barrel from squid industries.

Oh, were you being serious? I just thought you were kidding around. Most people that vape at that high of wattage only do it when they're chasing clouds

GTRS V-Boy. 200 watts, Yihi SX500 chipset, clear easy to read screen and feels great in the hand. Smokstore.com has them for 69.00 US.

That is a GREAT mod!! Other than bluetooth, it's the same chip that's in the SX Mini G Class. Plus it seems to hold up well over time, something I can't say about the G Class. I should've bought that instead, would've saved me a lot!!

Depends on the mod, tank, and flavor I'm using. I used to use crown 3s exclusively at .5 ohms. Now I use Valerians at .15, so for the same experience I had to up the wattage from 80-90 to between 100 and 120. Some flavors taste better to me at higher wattages and some at lower. And every mod seems to have a different experience even using the same tank.

@zeeter Yea, a lot of mods are definitely underpowered. I wish all mods would show actual output instead of claiming it just so they can put a higher max power level on the box

Good reviews on this. Only issue people have is the diameter at the top with the tank hanging over with anything over 30mm. Mine are 25mm so good match.

I would stick with the Charon. I've got 2 of the TC 218's. They are probably my favorites right now. They rip through a battery charge but that's not difficult to keep up with. Very fast and they hit right through to the end of a charge. I run them at 60-80 watts depending on what tank I have on them. I don't know if there are many available these days though.

That's exactly how I feel about them. I have two. Well, I had two, until one fell in a cup of water. It was my favorite mod. You're right - they give a full hit right up until the battery dies. I use a Valyrian tank on them and run at around 100W.

Have you tried the Charon TS mods? Thinking about going with one of them, though the TCs are a lot cheaper if you can find them.
