If the government could somehow make cigarettes kill people in 6 years instead of 60 years there is no doubt in my mind that they'd be fighting to implement it.

"Still, he thinks that calling for more regulations and more studies won't help anyone. As he sees it, many organizations -- including medical associations, universities, media outlets, sports clubs and art societies -- have benefited in some way or another from "tobacco industry largesse."

Fear of losing dollars has "led to a formula on how to address the tobacco pandemic that nobody will deny, and that is: get a grant, do research, look at tobacco industry documents, prove that they were conspiring to deceive the public, reveal this, get the FDA to pass a regulation, and then people will make up their minds whether they want to continue to smoke," Blum said."

At least he is admitting to the tobacco control status quo

Some of the same flawed logic you sometimes see applied to vaping:
banning stuff works
if we make it unpleasant, people will stop
govt cares about your health

My reaction: if they actually gave a crap, they'd promote vaping.

"promote" vaping..hell if they gave a damn they'd just leave vaping alone, instead of declaring war on it.. and vaping would promote itself..bastards want us dead.these are the same people that cart us of to wars for profit.
