So sad to hear you go. Thanks for the music and giving my teenage years something fun to listen to.

I guess he had been real sick for a few weeks. What a shame, he defined my childhood :(

This was hard to find, but it stuck with me all these years. I've only ever seen it once before today. I never knew the name of it!! Video starts at 35 seconds in.

Purple Rain (the song) was a masterpiece in my opinion. There just has never been anything like it before or after it was released. It is also a GREAT lovemaking song. Put that shit on repeat and everything will be ok. RIP bro

One of his earliest performances I heard about , years ago, was when he was first starting out and opened for the Rolling Stones.

People at the Stone concert freaked out, he came out in a trench coat ( and heels of course) and he started ripping on the guitar and opened his trench coat in some little black briefs.

Stones fans freaked.

I still have most of his early works. RIP

On CNN they were airing a Special Report on him and kept mentioning Purple Rain as it being his breakthru, but really I think that was his 6th album?
PR was his first really mainstream , large audience release.

His earlier works were less pop, but just as good.
