    Good morning ya'll.

'On awakening let us think about the twenty-four hours ahead. We consider our plans for the day. Before we begin, we ask God to direct our thinking, especially asking that it be divorced from self-pity, dishonest or self-seeking motives. Under these conditions we can employ our mental faculties with assurance for after all God gave us brains to use. Or thought-life will be placed on a much higher plane when our thinking is cleared of wrong motives.'

Please say a prayer for Catherine S. and her daughter Maryann in this time of sorrow and loss. Went to the wake and saw a stranger in the coffin. That is not the Lady I saw just a couple of weeks ago~! My heart is hurting for my good friend and tomorrow I will be there for her and drive in the Funeral Procession. I didn't want to but she asked with a simple look that she needs me to be there. So I will be there when my good friend needs me~!

    Happy Halloween recovery Vapers.

I need to get this off my chest. I'm doing great, on paper but mentally I'm really struggling. I lost my girl a couple days ago that I was on the street with. This woman was amazing. She and I where like family. She's they one that got me into recovery, which is devastating to me. I've lost over 10 friends and family this year alone and have had two sponsors go back out on me.

It's been rough. I really love being in recovery, and the relationship I've gained with my parents is phenomenal. I just guess this death really really hurt.

Thanks for understanding and keeping me encouraged ladies an gentleman of VU recovery.

    Hey everyone!

I had no idea there was a forum for us.
I'm so, so glad I found it!

I shouldn't even be alive. I ODed on h***** twice in one day, for Chrissakes. And 3x in 3 days. That was the summer of 2015. A total of 4 full-blown wasn't-breathing, needed-immediate-advanced-care-or-I-would-certainly-die overdoses.
After the final one, I convinced myself I wanted to be sober, but I still didn't want to quit, couldn't quit. I believed my only real problem with drugs was that I couldn't afford them & still pay my bills. If you'd had Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth around me, that's what I would have told you.

As I write this at nearly 4am a few days before Thanksgiving 2018, I'm thinking about how much my life has improved since I finally quit opioids on June 21, 2016, nearly 2½ years ago. It's staggering, & each year on Thanksgiving I'm never stumped on what gratitude I feel, because it is ever-present.

When I quit cigarettes this April, that was the last holdout of 3 major substance addictions in my life. The others were the opioids & m********. One or more had been part of my daily routine constantly since I was 13. I was so hopelessly addicted to sm*ck that I quit buying p** in 2014 because it was eating into my horse money. I haven't bought any w*** in over 4 years.

So when I quit smoking cigs, I knew I'd finally made it. I started vaping, & I'd be kidding myself if I tried to say it didn't become my new addiction. It's become a major part of my life, & I think about it...maybe too much, LOL.
The difference is, I believe in my heart of hearts that I've found a "healthy" addiction. I see it like this: If the worst thing I do now is blow too much money on a mod or juice, then I'm doing pretty darn well. Because in that other life, every moment could have been the death of me.
    That's not melodrama, that's fact.

By extension, I must tell all who are reading this, thank you. You have kept me focused on my goals, & you have helped me learn so much about our passion of vaping. You have helped save my life every day & you don't even know it.
I feel so good physically & mentally now that I almost feel guilty about it. I was speaking with my counsellor the other day & she said, "You really do feel great, don't you? You're shining!"
That meant a lot to me.

So, fellow vapers, come shine with me! We can chuck some clouds & shoot the shit while we do! :) If you made it this far, thanks for reading the pixels my heart poured onto this page, friend. Take care of yourself, & know you're loved.
We all have many, many things for which to be thankful.

Welcome and I'm glad you found the thread.
Thank you for sharing your story- we never know when one little thing in another's experiences will click with a struggling addict and help them to find the spark to strive for a better life.
Sounds like you've overcome some pretty big hurdles and you should feel good and shine! Never, never get complacent though. That's when those thoughts and feelings start to take our 'shine' away.
    We know what happens then.
Again, I'm glad you found the thread and feel free to hang out anytime! Have a great Thanksgiving!
