Hey VU! Just kind of stumbled across this forum looking for some basic info on building my own box mod (in the early research phase at this point, safety first) and I'm loving it so far! So much cleaner than the other big vape forum that I had gotten started on and it looks like there's a lot more info on modding here!
Little bit about me, I'm 31, originally from New Hampshire though I've lived all over the east coast and currently live in Texas with my lovely wife of the last year and a half. I've been a geek/collector my whole life (everything from stamps to snakes) and vaping is quickly becoming a big hobby for me! I love tinkering with electronics, I spent 3 years in the Army as a signal systems specialist (25U) - basically the Army Geek Squad, if it has buttons or dials and sends or receives a signal you can bet a 25U works on it, so I know a bit about how electronics work. Learning more every day about how to apply that knowledge to vaping and I'm getting the tools together that I'll need to start doing a little hobby level modding.
Also love that this forum doesn't limit you to talking like a child, anyone who's been in the military understands there are just times when being polite doesn't cut it and you've got to break out the big boy words.
My vaping journey started about 6 months ago, basically my wife and I have both been smoking since our mid-teens and we knew we needed to change. So we went to one of the local B&M glass/vape shops and got suckered into overpriced/underpowered/flimsy E-GO setups. Mine lasted about 2 weeks before I started looking around for something better. Basically, like most people I went through a lot of different setups before I found what works for me! My wife and I are moving to Denver the middle of the year so my vape budget is pretty tight. At the moment, my primary ADV is a Smok XproBT50 box with a Kanger Subtank - love the vapor production and the throat hit on this thing!
Looking forward to checkin out the forums more, I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorite sites.
