Why is there a small dot on the negative side of my battery?

It can't be from arcing. My builds are bullet proof and i test them on a regular basis. I'm current running a 0.35 ohm build on a scoundrel mech. The negative connection which touches the battery is a rounded copper nut. The small dot is about 1mm in diameter and is in the dead centre on the negative part of my battery. I have 2 batteries and they are both like this

Possibly a mark from the pressure from the contact point?

Not sure but a picture could be helpful.

Oxidation caused by copper touching another metal? That's why gold plating is used on contacts, or so I thought.

You just may have nailed it!

Still need Pictures though.

Could also be getting a little bit of arcing... contact not flush with battery or loose battery or even slow fire finger can have an arc. But is most likely oxidation. Little dielectric grease on contact may cure.

The scndrl arcs, especially if it's a clone. That rounded contact and magnet housing helps reduce arcing but it doesn't eliminate it.
