Hey to Everyone! I recently purchased a handful of wonder flavours from Gremlin DIY. Wizard Labs also sells them. On their site https://www.wonderflavours.com they also have recipes. It was my intention to just try their nut flavors, but I purchased more. I wanted to try their Buttercream Pecan Pie recipe, their Roasted Pecan Latte recipe, and their Sticky Caramel Cinnabun recipe, all of which will reach their 10 day steep tomorrow. I also mixed up all of their single flavors to review as well. As they all reach their 10 day steep I shall share my thoughts.
Flavor Reviews
Butter Pecan Pie: 6% 10 day steep. The more I vape on these flavors, the more I think they might need longer than a 10 day steep to fully develop. At a 10-11 day steep I'm not tasting much pie taste, just a hint. As for the sweet gooey middle again perhaps just a hint. The Butter Pecan flavor is coming through now. It's been so long since I had FW Butter Pecan that I cam fairly compare, but I think the FW was more concentrated and tasted pretty darn good without having to steep. This is a decent butter pecan flavor to me, but I was hoping for it to be amazing. I'll revisit these flavors as they steep longer. This is a pretty good flavor, but I'm thinking I prefer FW Butter Pecan. I'll note to try it at 9% and see if it's stronger or differs in taste.
Butterscotch Cream Pie:
Caramel Butter: 6% 11 day steep. This is a unique flavor. As I vape it a buttery caramel popcorn ball comes to mind. I bet adding this to TFA kettle corn or a popcorn flavor might be pretty promising. This is like a buttery caramel flavor. Pretty darn good flavor and I don't like caramel much. Oh, now I want to mix it with kettle corn and black pepper.
Caramel Rice Crispy Treats: 6% 13 day steep. I don't really care for this one. I taste a sweet, sweet caramel, but not thick or gooey or a great caramel. I don't know that I even detect rice crispy at this point, but seems to be some slight taste of bakery. It has an odd taste to it I cannot describe. I'll note to increase to 9% to see if it changes. But as of now it's a no.
Chocolate Chunks: 6% 11 day steep. I really like this flavor. It is a nice baking cocoa taste with the taste of melted chocolate chips in a cookie when you pull them straight out of the oven. The only taste I can compare it too would be One on One flavors Chocolate Chip Cookie. This is really unique in the way it gives off that baked melted chocolate flavor. Yes, I'd recommend.
Cinnamon Pastry: 6% 13 day steep. There is a taste here that I personally just don't like. It's a sweet type creamy icing with custard notes? Cinnamon is definitely present, a bakery type cinnamon. Very light on the pastry. I personality do not like this flavor at all at this %. I don't know if others wound enjoy this or not, but I don't.
Hazelnuts and Cream: 6% 13 day steep. Really good hazelnut flavor here. If you like hazelnuts I'd recommend. There is also the cream aspect. It is a sweet cream taste. I wonder if they use the same cream in all their flavors.
Roasted Pecans and Cream:
Mixed at 7% 10 day steep and I do vape on a 1.5 ohm coil around 9 watts.
This is definitely a flavor I can recommend. What I really like is that the flavor has an excellent roasted flavor. I have never tasted a roasted flavor before. That was the main taste I got freshly mixed with a bit of a sweet cream. Sniffing the bottle I could have sworn it smelled like fresh roasted coffee beans. I can see this adding a great roasted flavor to a coffee vape. Steeped for 10 days I now taste an excellent roasted flavor still, a nut flavor, and a splash of sweet cream. As a standalone flavor it is really good. I did play a bit with it and 1% added a nice roasted flavor and a sweet cream fresh mixed with the sweet potato casserole I've been working on.
Smooth Cappuccino Cream: By the way I mixed all the flavors at 6%. 9 day steep. When I get a cappuccino I can really taste the bold coffee in it. A good one has fresh roasted coffee in it. I have never purchased any coffee flavors except FA Tiramisu which is THE BEST! I guess I need to break down and order FA espresso next order. How to describe this one? I can taste coffee. It's not bold, not robust, not fresh roasted tasting. I taste a very, very sweet cream, on the too sweet side for me. All their flavours with cream have this same type of sweet cream taste that I cannot describe. Ok this vape does have a roasted flavor. The coffee flavor is light, but this is more like an instant cappuccino mix you'd find in the grocery store. It has a dark roasted taste, but it's like the beans aren't fresh. It's ok. I have no idea how I'd mix with it. To me it's just ok.
Tahitian Vanilla Cream: 6% 12 day steep. This flavor is very similar if not the same as TFA French Vanilla Creme. Idk bc I'd have to Vape them side by side. Idk how this is at a lower %, but TFA French Vanilla Creme at 2% is as flavorful as this at 6%. How to describe? It is a sweet as well as deep flavored vanilla cream flavor. Very, very good standalone vanilla Vape as is TFA French Vanilla Creme. I shall note to try them side by side at 2% fresh to see how they compare.
Recipe Reviews
Buttercream Pecan: 10 day steep.
I've been vaping on this all day now. I thought the recipe was for a Buttercream Pecan Pie, not just Buttercream Pecan so I was a bit disappointed. I saw rave reviews on the wonder flavours site, so I was expecting spectacular. I'm not much on butterscotch, but love pecans. It is a nice light butterscotch flavor, not in your face at all. It is really creamy, & just a touch of pecan flavor. It's not a bad vape at all. I do seem to get a bit of alcohol like taste from this that perhaps a few more days steep might cure. It's not a recipe I'd rave about or even mix again, but I am very picky and butterscotch isn't my thing. Imho if I were aiming for a Buttercream Pecan Recipe, I'd say that the Buttercream is pretty good, but definitely needs more pecan flavor. I'd prefer more pecans and a pie crust or bakery in my vape. It's a very sweet tasting vape, but then I would think Buttercream would be. The big downer for me was having to wait 10 days. I'm so used to FA and a handful of TFA flavors where I can shake and vape. Hope this helps any who ever saw this recipe and was interested in another's opinion.
Sticky Caramel Cinnabun: 10 day steep. This is the easiest of the 3 recipes to review bc the flavors I taste remain consistent throughout the vape. To me this tastes like a buttery caramel cinnamon sticky bun. The cinnamon is a bakery cinnamon like FA or TFA. A nice glazed buttery caramel. Of the 3, I like this recipe best, but I think something similar could be made using non baddie flavors. I do taste the baddies in this one, which is the part I do not like. Sometimes I'm sensitive to flavorings with diketones in them. I do not know the content of things in these flavors. Ok, so bottom line here...would I purchase these flavors just to make this recipe? No, I personally would not. Although it is an accurate tasting recipe. If you are looking for a caramel sticky bun recipe this is pretty good.
Roasted Pecan Latte: 10 day steep. Hmmmm, I started vaping this last night and again this morning. I'm guessing I should have tasted the single flavors first. Ah well. This recipes are hard for me to describe. Well, I'm not tasting any coffee in here really. It does have that roasted flavor and the pecan comes through once in a while. I get a roasted caramel flavor here mostly. It's odd at times it's taste super caramely or caramelized and at others I get roasted cream and sometimes nut. It is alcoholy smelling and sometimes I even taste it, but perhaps it's my imagination from smelling the bottle. Bottom line here...would I buy the flavors to just specifically make this recipe? No, I would not. Hoping tasting the single flavors will give me ideas on how to mix with other flavors. I still do recommend the single flavor Roasted Pecans & Cream.
15 day steep, I'm now tasting the coffee flavor coming through, I just don't like the coffee flavor. It tastes bitter to me and not fresh, but stale.
1 1/2 mos. Steep. This is actually pretty good now. Although I hate steeping, I'm enjoying everything about this, except I wonder how FA Cappuccino would do in this recipe as I have never yet tried it nor FA espresso. At 1 1/2 mos steep I'd have to say to this recipe. In fact I'd purchase a. ll the flavors, but I'd purchase FA Cappuccino, bc, I'm not find of the smooth cappuccino cream flavor. I really like the roasted nutty aspect of this recipe. I'm not a huge fan of the sweet cream flavor in the cappuccino, I'd try to make it better and if FA Cappuccino didn't alone solve this, I'd try some FA fresh cream in here or perhaps Idk. It's the best coffee vape I have tried, but the only others have been from remedy vapor who use mostly Mount Vapor products.
* I'll say this, I'm thinking FW Butter Pecan tops theirs, TFA French Vanilla Creme is just as good, tastes the same to me, but TFA is more concentrated. Out of what I've tried I'd recommend their Roasted Pecans and Cream, Caramel Butter, and Hazelnut and Cream, and Chocolate Chunks. I'll probably never touch the others, but that's me.
