Been looking at the Pico. Watched the "just got this the other day" reviews. Now lets here from the people that have had theirs for a long time. How do they hold up?

I've had mine since they first came out. Use it daily and still working flawless. Great little mod.

Got my 75w in july. Does what I wanted from a mod. So far only issue is the mod didn't recog nice that a battery was installed a couple times. Different battery or plugging into PC fixed.

Same here, had it since it came out, and I have three now. Wife uses hers as her purse carry work/out and about vape, and I use mine as my work commute/out and about vape, because of their small size. Not had any issues what-so-ever.

Wasn't crazy about mine, like I had read other people were... when I first got it, that is. It just sat in the back up cabinet. One day I needed a back up, because I dropped a little cheapie thing I was using. >splat< Started using the Pico. Little sucker really grew on me. No issues with mine, but I've read, from time to time, that some people had an issue with the 510 stripping out quickly. I haven't experienced that. A heat sink that stays on the mod would take care of that.

Glad to hear all the positive comments. The GF wants one bad. Didn't want to buy if they didn't hold up

I'd say look around, you should be able to pick one up at a reasonable price. You might even like the Melo 3 mini if you get the kit. I was one of the pre-order people and never regretted the purchase. Keep in mind that because the battery cap sticks up, you'll only be able to use a max.22.5 mm diameter atty on it.

My pico runs great! Bought it when it first came out and im still enjoying it to this day.

The finish holds up very well too. I just have one very minor scratch. But i do take good care of my stuff. Tc has a bit of an issue with the latest firmware (the one with the startup logo) so i reverted mine to the older fw (1.01, if im not mistaken).

The only reason i dont use mine as much is because i decided to get a dna device. But i still tend to use the pico if i need a very small mod. It really is hard to replace given its miniscule size.

I have the full black finish, it's worn around the bottom plate.
It's been my day long mod for months so not that surprising. Dropping it several times hasn't helped.

Otherwise, it's perfect for me. Comfortable and reliable and, in my mind, good looking. I put a black faux leather wrap on it, even better.

I just got another I'll give myself for Christmas.:)

Had mine since they first came out Gray and the paint is still perfect but then again gray is a strong color holds up well. Then since I liked it so well I bought a stainless one looks great. Never one problem love them. I do not do the updates because I like them as they come 1.00. Tried update but went back to 1.00.

What is different in the updates? Did they make changes to the TC algorithms?

As far as I can tell the updates do no functional changes. Other than adding the smart mode in 1.01... Beyond that they have all been screen modifications.

V1.01= Add smart mode, simplified display (removed V display, made battery display bigger), can add a custom logo display(I put my screen name).
V1.02= New boot/shutdown animation(eleaf logo), simplified TC interface, intuitive progress bar. ( haven't loaded it)

My wife got the Pico when I preordered it as the "kit". The Melo went in the trash after the glass literally fell apart when I tried unscrewing it to change the coil.
The device however, has been fantastic for her. I really have to give eLeaf two thumbs up for it. Not one bad spot in the paint, still looks brand new. Device works flawlessly. Not one problem.

She is very happy with it. Matter of fact, I will order another soon just to have as a backup. She/we are very impressed.

If the glass fell apart then it had to be broken in order to do that. I have dropped mine several times glass held up great.

Well there were no visible cracks. When I went to change her coil for the first time, the glass was in pieces in my hand. It was working fine until that point.

I chalked it up to more Chinese quality control and threw the tank away.

my pico died in two weeks I bought the pico kit on oct 22 and brought it back to my local store today for a exchange. it first stopped recognizing any battery i put in it but would fire up if i plugged it in to my lap top then just stopped altogether. I actually bought 2 one for me one for my wife. my wife's is still working but again only been since oct 22. with that said i do like it. its good on batteries and the melo iii tank it comes wih is pretty nice with both .3 an .5 coils. I bought a tobeco super tank mini also and works great with it also. I use it as my everyday vape. maybe i just got a fluke one. but they exchanged it for another pico so we will see. I usually run boths tanks around 50 watts

Hello all,
I had mine 2 days back and I like it. I was looking for a mod that is small in hand.
Just a couple of questions as I am new to there things:
1. As I can understand, using higher resistance coils give you MTL, but in the Pico, tightening the airflow also gives you MTL hits even on lower resistance coils. Am I right?
2. How can this be compared to the Joyetech eGrip 2? Does anyone have both and can give us a better feedback?
Thank you.

Kind of yes on the higher ohm coils, but airflow is also a important part of it. Too much airflow messe's up the MTL experience, by diluting the vapor, and the ability to do a mouth draw properly, because of the less restriction. Some tanks still have too much airflow when tightened all the way down. (Loose tolerances)

I also noticed that some juices give more MTL hits than other, please correct me if I am wrong.
Now I also like the design and size of the eGrip 2 and eGrip 2 Light. I just need some advice on that before getting one and try it. I like the firmware on the eGrip, the one that you can read without flipping the device sideways.

I wouldn't know what you mean when you say "give more MTL hits".

As far as the eGrip goes, the first rendition was a good device. I have no doubts both the 2 and 2 light are good devices, so I would just pick whichever you like the best.

You need to look at PG/VG ratio and also the nicotine content (mg) in your juice. The higher PG will give a "bigger" throat hot. The same holds true for the nicotine content, the higher the amount the more "hit" you'll get. Now, put those two together, you can tailor your vaping that way.
As if things weren't confusing enough, let's throw in the tanks...the dedicated mtl tanks usually have rather small air intakes, single coil (for rta) and of late, rather short chimney. In the case to tanks using ready made coils, take a look at the aspire coils, the 0.5 ohm vs the 1.8 ohm coils. You will see the different air intake at the bottom of the coil. In the case of the Melo 3 tank, you can use the 1.8 ohm aspire coils and further restrict the airflow using the afc ring on the tank.

Not sure if you understand what MTL hitting is. It refer to how you draw on whatever atomizer you have.. really has nothing to do with the mod or juice or ohm rate and wattage for that matter. Yes some atty are MTL only and others DL only. But many with adjustable air can be used for both. MTL you draw smoke or vapor into the mouth then inhale or not. DL you do a straight draw directly inhaling to the lungs.

The Egrip is an all-in-one, so you are stuck married to that system, and only able to vary your experience by their coil offerings only. Also the built in battery can be a hassle if it were to die at an inconvenient time, leaving you vape less while recharging. Not saying it's bad, just it has limitations.
With the Pico, you are limited to a 22mm tank, but can try other brands/styles to change the experience. You can also switch out the 18650 batteries, if you purchase a charger and extra batteries(you'll need to buy at least one battery already).

And a big thank you! I never bothered updating the firmware before as none of the "new" features really mattered to me, but preheat is worth the update.
yes, I run TC on my pico with my cubis pro coils so dont really need it there but have been waiting for it on my istick 200tc (where I am running a 0.2 ohm coil in VW mode) so was checking their site while reading this thread. It makes a huge difference for these low ohm fancy fused clapton type coils I have been running in my rx200s and istick 200tc. The 200tc w/o preheat wasn't as nice of a vape as my rx200s with preheat until today when I put in the new firmware.

I understand what MTL and DL are, I was a smoker and know how to feel the MTL hit. But on Joyetech coils, they mention whether it is MTL or DL, coils with 0.5 ohms or less mention DL, and coils with 0.6 ohms or higher mention MTL. So I believe that coils resistance controls how the vape is produced, and this is info is not only mentioned in Joyetech website, videos on YouTube also agree on that.
And yes airflow is a very important factor to MTL or DL. And regarding the juice, I have a brand that states high voltage VG (or something like that), so I believe some juices are better in taste when inhale DL. I have 2 different kinds of mint and I can feel a much better hit on the the throat when I do MTL (yes it is most likely because if the mint concentration).

those coils not only control how many watts you can use but how much air can be passed thru them even on widest open airflow settings of the tank. Higher PG ratio is usually used by people that MTL as it will flow better and it gives more throat hit.

Yes but the eGrip 2 or the new eGrip 2 light has an extension so you can use your own tank, so you are not stuck with their coils.

The wattages on the coil is not a limit. It's the suggested optimum range.
For big clouds. Imo. I often find better flavor below listed watts. Or at least at the lower end.

MTL vs DL in coilheads does most often refer to the air passage size yes..... but it is generally true MTL vaping is done at lower wattages than most DL vaping.

Air flow does affect throat hit and vapor temp.

But flavorings nicotine and PG levels have the most affect on TH.

I'm about to order another mod, and love/must be small size. I'm torn between istick mini 20w and the Pico. Which one should I get? I use a Aspire Nautilus and don't blow huge clouds. Currently using istick mini 10w the original one

Pico for the TC control... with the 20w or 30w Istick you are limited to Kanthal and nichrome ONLY. With the Pico you can use nearly any type of vaping wire. Yes, I know you use a nautilus.... I have one too that I rebuild with stainless wire.
