Last weekend I upgraded wifey's PC from WinXP to Win7 Pro. After waiting three fracking days for 'doze to finally find and install updates, I ran this little batch file I put together:

I named it "buggeroff-win10.bat" :) That takes care of most of the problem, but you have to take care, going forward, to review updates before installing to make sure these don't come back.

Another thing that seems to work well, and I ran, as well, is Windows 10 When I Want It. It sets the most annoying patches to "ignore," so they won't be reinstalled.

I won't touch a MS-Win10 box. When MS-Win7 reaches end-of-life in 2020, wifey will be switched to a Mac. The only reason I even upgraded her PC was so she could continue to get updates for her GPS. That's all she uses MS-Win for, now. Everything else is done from Linux.

In the interest of full disclosure I must admit that I absolutely, positively detest Microsoft, Microsoft Windows and every other bit of Microsoft software and all the other MS-centric crap on the planet with all my heart and soul.

They been mixing jet fuel with their coffee- That really bugs me! I'm from a place where we eat everything from a water born cock roach(crawfish) to rock-snot(oyster) but what idiot decides that jet fuel looks tasty?
