Doing well retired 4 years now. No covid, did lose a friend/wifes cousin to covid though.
I figure most everyone will know someone who dies of covid before this is all over next year?
I'm sure of it. And we're ex-smokers so we are at a higher risk of having severe complications.

Just trying to remember some of the good people on ECF that did not migrate over here....
Some of which are dual users, which is ok with me.
I hold no grudge against ECF just no desire to go back.
Kinda like stepping in a cow pie. aggravating at the time but after you get your boot cleaned off just something you want to avoid doing again :)

Still at times visit ECF. Have tried getting banned a few times. Staff, moderators seem content to simply issue mild warnings. Cannot conclude which forum I enjoy most. Reckon that isn't really of any note. Excuse my waning.

Had to take the Valdemutt to the vet this morning. One side of his face was swelled up.
Abscessed tooth, they got it draining and shot him up with antibiotics and anti inflammatory.

Yo morely Ben, what's shakin?

Not much. A bit frustrated at a lacking house market here. So, we save a bit more. Also looking into a Mail Processing Operator 2 position that is open in Charleston. It was posted internally.

Wife is gradually working into a state Human Resources position from a Man Power job. She got trained up for a special section after getting past the Man Power hour limit. She's now going into the required time needed to be hired as State temporaries.

She saw the posting, suggested I apply. Did that kind of work for about 8 months before in one job. I liked the work. Figure in a year, or two I'll be doing fair if I get on.

Working on a quarantine pond for new plants - it's coming along. Taking pics, I can see I need to plug some holes to hide the blue plastic kiddie pool better LMAO

So now we have zombie cicadas?

'Zombie cicadas' under the influence of a mind controlling fungus have returned to West Virginia

Next thing will be kids licking cicada butts to get a buzz?
note: You must read article to understand that :)

While a zombie army of cicadas sounds terrifying, Kasson reassures that infected cicadas are not a danger to humans.

Still waiting on 2020 to bring us Mothman vs. Godzilla. We can load Mothman up with some dynamite out of Nitro, give him an explosive right hook. Think Godzilla would be defeated.

So what's new with you chickee? Besides life sucks and TV is better, lol
Not much. Just staying home so I can retire soon. My son's wife informed me they would not pay me back the $50,000 they borrowed. They bought a house by the lake. And there's an HOA they have to pay. So I'm fixing up my little home and loving it!
I do love working from home although it took some getting used to. I can concentrate SO much better now. Just a tad lonely.

I actually miss those 2 from ECF. They showed up here once or twice, but never came back.:cry: One or two others, who were at one time in the Achilles thread, which was my favorite thread, along with the Tootle Puffers. I'm STILL a tootle puffer, and damn proud of it! :teehee:

Me three - just not as tootle-ey hahahaha

I've actually been vaping at (gasp!) 10.5w lately, since I started using driptips from AHD. The inner diameter of her 510 tips is 5.2mm, a smidge bigger than the 4-4.5mm I truly prefer, so bumping it up half a watt takes care of that very small difference. 'Course, late at night, after vaping at 10.5w all day, I have to put on one of my old ming tips and knock it back down to 9.8w-10w, or I start coughing my brains out.

I know, first-world asthmatic vaper problems. :teehee:

Gosh, I love the hell out of retail therapy.

:D:D:D
retailtherapy.jpg

I wanted to go on and order all those while they have my size and the colors I wanted. I tried like hell to buy those booties last winter, and they never had them in my size, in that color.

Those leggings are some of the very few I've found online that are actually long enough for my legs, without having to spend like $30-$40 to buy Vera Wang "longs" from Kohls. I got a gray and red pair last year, loved them so much, I wanted more. Still might buy a burgundy pair, depending on what tops I buy for fall/winter.

I'm so excited! I got this today:

mynewfridge.jpg

Now just waiting for it to get cold so I can transfer everything from the old one (which we moved out to the garage for overflow storage).

With tax and delivery, it came to just a bit over $3100. Saved for 2 yrs for that puppy!

Wife recently bought her mom a new fridge for around $2,400. Her dad said he's going to pay her back for it. They had gotten a new fridge a few years back. I looked at it after they moved it to the barn, seemed to be a case of desperately needing cleaned. It started failing on them. *sighs* Me and wife didn't use that fridge. Not our responsibility. But that seems the way here.

But that seems the way here.

The one we replaced, a Frigidaire side-by-side, was already 2nd-hand when we bought it (leased-to-own actually) from Aaron's, 9 yrs ago when we bought this house, because that was the only way we could possibly afford a refrigerator -- we thought we might have a bit of cash left after the closing, but they hit us for the last 3 months of the year's property taxes (we closed on Sept 29), so we BARELY had enough cash for the closing, had to hit my credit card for the extra, which took about 5 yrs to clear that high interest from my credit card!

That fridge was fine when it was just me and the mate here, but once our son came back home in 2017, it soon became very obvious that we needed a bigger fridge... but he needed a car worse, so we had to do that with our savings, to make a good down pmt so the payments would be low. So, since we did that in 2018, we've saved for the new fridge. I've wanted one of those door-in-door things since they first came out... but when i saw THIS kind, with the glass window that you can knock on, to turn on the internal light and see what you have, I knew instantly that I WANTED THAT KIND!!! :) :) :)

The old Frigidaire still works, because a fridge is something that needs to be replaced BEFORE it completely dies, and we moved it out to the garage for overflow storage. Mainly for overflow freezer storage, so the stand-alone freezer indoors can be mostly just filled with nicotine. If the old fridge in the garage dies, we can replace FOOD... but nicotine? Who knows how long we'll be able to buy that, and I've got several hundred dollars' worth in that stand-alone freezer.

Nicotine does not go bad quick if left out of freezing unlike food and will keep for quite a while in a room temperature dark area. a year or so i would think.

That's good to know, because the stand-alone freezer is probably at least 30 yrs old, but it was my mother's, and she always took excellent care of her things. It still works, but it's good that we now have 2 other freezers, between the 2 fridges, because the stand-alone freezer is one of the old-style kind that has to be defrosted every so often, and it's currently in dire need of it. Now we have someplace to put everything that's in it, while we defrost it. :)

No need to justify to me. *chuckles*

I was not "fussing" at you. I was pointing out that here it seems her family has a habit of running anything into the ground, then, me and her get tasked with cleaning, or getting new.

Another example of this is her dad's new tractor had to go to the shop to be repaired. It is a John Deere. Her sister was driving it and it broke. How the f--- do you break a John Deere tractor I asked my wife, then, realized it was her sister what was using it at the time.

Her sister and bro in law have ran at least three, maybe four cars into the ground over the last two years. They never bother with maintenance, upkeep. No, they just run it until falls apart and then let someone else get them a new car.

Turns out the tractor was not completely fouled. Seems it was only a connector for a hydraulic line had come off. Still the tractor sat unusable for three days until the sales company got it to repair it. The fluid leaked out. Fortunately it had less than 25,000 hours on it so was under warranty.

Doubt her bro in law, "world's greatest diesel mechanic" there is, could have fixed it, or even known what the issue had been. Matter of fact I don't need to doubt. I know he had no f---ing clue. This is evidenced by it needing to set three days not operable. I didn't know myself simply for not having looked it over.

Her dad told me they needed to come get it for repair. I didn't take time to go look it over. I wasn't the one responsible for it at that time, not my immediate concern. So yeah, I was blowing off steam about how her family acts here. It wasn't meant or aimed at you.

Another quick example here. Her bro in law has gone out and had to buy or find two different weed eaters since last April. I've had one Stihl weed eater since then. It looks nearly new.

I need to soon check the air filter on it, maybe. Might need to replace the plug on it, though, she still fires right up. My point being I'm taking care of the weed eater. Whereas her bro in law keeps going through weed eaters. And yes, I use mine hard.

I just know that I rather not have my wife need to pay another $400 to get me a new weed eater. To the extent that I can keep it up, I will. It's not left out in the rain, not left in disrepair.

Have to shake my head, just don't understand some folk. Oh well.

I share your dismay, because that's just, well... stupid. Our old fridge is still running, and probably will continue for years to come, it's just not big enough to hold enough food for 3 adults for half a month's worth of food. I was having to regularly invent new cuss words, everytime we bought groceries and I tried to get all the frozen food stored! And everytime the mate restocked the sodas for himself and the spawn, just fuss fuss fuss about "all the stuff" I put on that 2nd shelf, because well, there just ain't that many shelves in the stupid thing! So now, the fullsize 12oz cans that he and the spawn consume like it's air, are out in the old fridge in the garage. The sodas I drink are the 7.5oz bitty ones, so they fit great in the top compartment of that door-in-door thingie, and my water bottles (for when we go out somewhere) fit in the middle compartment, and my tall cartons of coconut water fit in the bottom. POIFECT! :D I unloaded the standalone freezer earlier, into the freezer part out in the garage, so that freezer is now defrosting/draining out on the lawn. Later I'll cogitate on how exactly i wanna store stuff like candy and whatnot junkfood in the new fridge. :D

Hey everyone! Guess what? I’m still alive..for how much longer, who knows. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non Small Cell Lung Cancer back in June. I’ve completed 30 radiation treatments, 6 chemo treatments and I’m now doing immunotherapy treatments biweekly for the next 11 months. My last scan showed that the lesions were still the same but we don’t know at this point if they’re lesions or scar tissue. The lymph node had shrunk though.
I just wanted to let you all know. I’ll be back to check up on y’all to see how everyone is doing. Life is crazy at the moment!!

I’m hanging in there. Determined to fight this to the bitter end. I told my oncologists that I want to be around to watch my grandson graduate high school. In 10 years. If the immunotherapy drugs work I have a 60-65% chance of doing that. This was me in August. When my hair started falling out, I had it buzzed.
