burnt cotton

i have used this vape for a while and it's worked perfectly but recently every time i make the coils and thread it i prime it perfectly and then for some miraculous reason i taste it's burnt and it's managed to burn directly in half. does anyone know what to do, i have tried different coils...

My girlfriend is constantly getting massive build up on coils and burning her cotton. I can go a couple months on my wicks but she is lucky to get a week out of them. I've tried different decks and coils but it is still happening. I've told her to squonk more often but it doesn't seem to help...
