vaping tastes bad

Want to get back into vaping, but it's hard. Basically, I've tried a lot of stuff and gotten some amazing tastes, but it all ends up tasting like crud; mixture of too hot of air, metal, and flavors just being ruined by the heat. If I turn down the wattage, it ends up being little to no vapor...
