Batman, Doctor Strange, Thor, and Aquaman are all headed our way in 2022 - and that's just a portion of the superhero fare landing next year!


Tom Cruise will hit us with his Top Gun sequel and his seventh Mission: Impossible, the world of horror will unleash new installments of Scream and Halloween (as well as Jordan Peele's latest!), and big-budgeted follow-ups for Jurassic Park, John Wick, and Fantastic Beasts will all compete for box office dominance.

Below you'll find nearly 60 films -- most in theaters, some on Netflix (the ones we know of right now) -- that we can't wait to watch in 2022. Sonic the Hedgehog's back while Tom Holland plays Nathan Drake in an Uncharted movie. Into the Spider-Verse's sequel thwips into theaters while James Cameron looks to prove a world of doubters wrong with Avatar 2 - the first of four Avatar sequels that are about to roll out!

Simon Kinberg (X-Men films, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) directs this spy thriller starring Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, Penélope Cruz, Diane Kruger, and Sebastian Stan, about a team of female agents tasked with recovering a top-secret weapon. The title is derived from Agent 355, a female spy for the Patriots during the American Revolution.

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania

Adam Sandler soundalike Brian Hull takes over as Drac for the fourth Hotel Transylvania flick, as Van Helsing's mysterious invention, the "Monsterfication Ray," goes haywire and turns all the monsters into humans - and Andy Samberg's Johnny into a monster. Selena Gomez (who also serves as an EP), Kathryn Hahn, Jim Gaffigan, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, and Keegan-Michael Key also star.

Scream

Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette return (along with Scream 4's Marley Shelton) for a legacy sequel (from Ready or Not's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) designed to upend the franchise and begin things anew. When a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers -- played by Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mikey Madison -- secrets from Woodsboro's deadly past come to light.

Deep Water

Fatal Attraction and Indecent Proposal's Adrian Lyne returns to his erotic thriller roots with the story of a married couple who have fallen out of love with each other and begin playing deadly mind games against one another that cause harm to those around them. Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas star in this adaptation of the 1957 novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre

Director Guy Ritchie and star Jason Statham collaborate for a fifth time, delivering a spy adventure co-starring Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, Cary Elwes, Hugh Grant, and hip-hop star Bugzy Malone. Statham plays super spy Orson Fortune, whose team of top operatives must recruit Hollywood's biggest movie star, Danny Francesco (Hartnett), to help them on an undercover mission to stop a billionaire arms broker.

Morbius

Based on the Marvel Comics character and Spider-Man foe Morbius the Living Vampire, this Sony-verse Spidey film, after a year and a half delay, is finally landing. Jared Leto stars as the titular Dr. Michael Morbius, who becomes a vampire after attempting to cure himself of a rare blood disease. Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson co-star along with Michael Keaton (who appears, apparently, as his MCU character, Adrian Toomes/Vulture).

Moonfall

Roland Emmerich returns to his bread and butter, End Times Cinema, for a mayhem-filled movie where the moon hurtles toward Earth after getting knocked from its orbit. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson), and conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley) believe her.

Jackass Forever

The fourth, and presumably final, film in the Jackass franchise roars into theaters this coming February after having been bounced out of the Fall 2021 lineup, its fourth major delay due to the pandemic. As they ponder the passing of time and getting older, Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Wee Man, and more return for more harebrained stunts and pranks.

Death on the Nile

Kenneth Branagh is back as Agatha Christie's "world's greatest detective," Hercule Poirot, following 2017's Murder on the Orient Express for a new murder mystery starring Gal Gadot, Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright. This time Poirot must track a killer on vacation vessel the S.S. Karnak.

Uncharted

From Venom and Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer comes a big-budget adaptation of the Uncharted game franchise, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as younger versions of duo Nathan Drake and Victor "Sully" Sullivan. Drake's first treasure hunting adventure finds him in pursuit of "the greatest treasure never found" while also tracking clues that may lead to his long-lost brother.

Ambulance

Michael Bay directs a script from Chuck's Chris Fedak about a war veteran who desperately needs money for his wife's surgery and reaches out to his adoptive brother, a lifelong criminal, who talks him into taking part in a $32 million bank heist. Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Eiza González, and Garret Dillahunt star.

The Batman

Matt Reeves' The Batman looks to be the darkest big-screen portrayal of the Caped Crusader to date. Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell star in this Batman: Year Two take, featuring Pattinson's masked vigilante going toe-to-toe with a serial killer - Paul Dano's Riddler.

Turning Red

In the first Pixar film to be solely directed by a woman, Domee Shi, Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh star in the story of a confident 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl who is torn between staying her mother's dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. And, as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body were not enough, whenever she gets too excited or stressed, she "poofs" into a giant red panda.

Downton Abbey: A New Era

A sequel to both the hit series and the 2019 film, Downton Abbey: A New Era once again reunites creator Julian Fellowes with stars Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern, Jim Carter, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Brendan Coyle, Robert James-Collier, Maggie Smith and more - while also adding Hugh Dancy, Matthew Goode, and Dominic West.

The Lost City

This swashbuckling rom-com features Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, and Brad Pitt in the story of a reclusive romance novelist who goes on a book tour with her cover model and gets swept up in a kidnapping attempt that lands them both in a cutthroat jungle adventure.

Bullet Train

John Wick and Atomic Blonde's David Leitch wrangles Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Zazie Beetz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Joey King, and Brian Tyree Henry for a film based on the novel Maria Beetle by Kōtarō Isaka, which is about five assassins on a Japanese bullet train who realize their individual assignments are all interconnected.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Ben Schwartz reprises his role as the voice of Sonic, alongside Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Tom and Maddie Wachowski, for a sequel to 2020's video game adaptation smash. Idris Elba joins the saga as Knuckles (an echidna) as Robotnik, now known as Dr. Eggman, returns from the mushroom planet with Knuckles in search of an emerald that can provide the power to build and destroy civilizations.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

This third installment in the Fantastic Beasts film series finds Hannibal's Mads Mikkelsen taking over the role of dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald as the story leads up to the Wizarding World's involvement in World War II. With Grindelwald's power rapidly growing, Jude Law's Albus Dumbledore entrusts Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander and his friends with a mission that will lead to a clash with Grindelwald's army, and will lead Dumbledore to ponder how long he will stay on the sidelines in the approaching war.

The Northman

Big Little Lies co-stars Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman team for a new historical thriller from The Witch and The Lighthouse's Robert Eggers - which also stars Eggers players Anya Taylor-Joy and Willem Dafoe (along with Ethan Hawke and Björk). In The Northman, Skarsgård plays a Viking prince who sets out on a mission of revenge after his father is murdered.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

In this action-comedy, Nicolas Cage, playing himself, begrudgingly accepts a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a Mexican billionaire super fan (Pedro Pascal). When things take a wild turn, Nic is forced to become a version of some of his most iconic and beloved characters in order to extricate his wife and daughter from the fan who is a notorious drug lord. Tiffany Haddish, Sharon Horgan, and Neil Patrick Harris also star.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Bumped back a few months to May, the Doctor Strange sequel brings director Sam Raimi back to the superhero fold and into the MCU (along with composer Danny Elfman) for the story of Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme contending with the dire dangers of the multiverse. Elizabeth Olsen stars as Wanda Maximoff (who was last seen in WandaVision studying the Darkhold) while Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor return. Xochitl Gomez will also make her debut as America Chavez.

This sci-fi thriller stars Adam Driver and Borderlands' Ariana Greenblatt in the story of an astronaut who crash-lands on a mysterious planet and discovers he's not alone. Sam Raimi serves as an EP (with Danny Elfman composing the score) while Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (writers of the original story for A Quiet Place) direct.

DC League of Super-Pets

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart reunite (this time voice-only) for a 3D animated adventure where Johnson plays Superman's dog, Krypto, and Hart portrays Batman's dog, Ace. When the Justice League is kidnapped, Krypto is exposed to green kryptonite and stripped of his powers. Now Krypto must teach a dog, a pig, a squirrel, and a turtle how to save the day. Other voices include Marc Maron as Lex Luthor, as well as Keanu Reeves, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, and Jameela Jamil.

Legally Blonde 3

We don't know much about Legally Blonde 3 other than the fact that, after a pandemic-related delay in pre-production, Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor are writing the script and Reese Witherspoon is set to return as Elle Woods.

Top Gun: Maverick

After a few delays, this decades-later sequel to Tony Scott's Top Gun features Tom Cruise's return as Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. The cast also includes Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris. Tron: Legacy and Oblivion's Joseph Kosinski directs.

John Wick: Chapter 4

Keanu Reeves stars once again as legendary hitman John Wick in the fourth film for this hyper-violent gun-fu franchise. Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick return as their Wick-verse characters while singer-model Rina Sawayama makes her feature film debut.

The Bob's Burgers Movie

Bob's Burgers makes its leap to the big screen as the second theatrical feature film based on a Fox animated series following 2007's The Simpsons Movie. H. Jon Benjamin, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, John Roberts, and Kristen Schaal are all on hand to voice the befuddled Belcher clan while creator Loren Bouchard makes his directorial debut.

Jurassic World: Dominion

Jurassic World heroes Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard star alongside Jurassic Park originals Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum for a culminating event that looks to cap off this six-film franchise with an adventure that takes place about five years after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Lightyear

Written by Monsters, Inc and Up director Pete Docter, Lightyear is a curious spin-off of Pixar's Toy Story that looks to serve as an origin story for the fictional human character Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Chris Evans), who inspired the action figure of the same name. The rest of the voice cast for Lightyear has yet to be announced.

Elvis

Baz Luhrmann's first feature film since 2013's The Great Gatsby is an Elvis biopic starring Austin Butler (Tex in Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) as "The King" and Tom Hanks as famed manager Colonel Tom Parker.

The Black Phone

Based on a short story by Joe Hill, The Black Phone stars Mason Thames as an abducted child who can communicate with the past victims of his kidnapper, portrayed by Ethan Hawke. Director Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose), after bowing out of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, returns to horror for this creepy new thriller.

Minions: The Rise of Gru

Minions: The Rise of Gru -- aka Minions 2 -- finds Steve Carell playing a young Gru growing up in the suburbs in the early 1970s. A fanboy of a supervillain group known as the Vicious 6, Gru hatches a plan to become evil enough to join them. When the Vicious 6 fire their leader, legendary fighter Wild Knuckles, Gru interviews to become their newest member. Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless, Dolph Lundgren, and Danny Trejo co-voice.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Chris Hemsworth's Thor, as the only O.G. Avenger to get four movies, returns in Taika Waititi's Love and Thunder along with the MCU's Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, and Vin Diesel. Christian Bale enters the mix as baddie Gorr the God Butcher while Portman's Jane Foster becomes her own version of Thor.

Black Adam brings Dwayne Johnson into the DCEU as the titular near-unstoppable DC supervillain. Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek's Nicholas Stoller directs a history-making rom-com with BROS, the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men. Julius Avery, who helmed 2018's Overlord, directs Sylvester Stallone in Samaritan, the tale of a young boy who believes a famed superhero, who was thought to have gone missing after an epic battle 20 years ago, may in fact still be around. The film is based on the Mythos Comics graphic novels created by Bragi F. Schut, Marc Olivent, and Renzo Podesta.

Salem's Lot

Stephen King's chilling 1975 novel gets a new adaptation from director Gary Dauberman (The Conjuring-verse) as a man returns to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot in search of inspiration for his next book only to discover the place is being preyed upon by a vampire, leading him to band together with a ragtag group that will fight the evil presence.

Don't Worry Darling

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Sequel

Halloween Ends

David Gordon Green's sequel trilogy comes to a close with Halloween Ends, which will presumably feature a final showdown between Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode and (immortal?) suburban slasher Michael Myers. Taking place in 2022, four years after the events of Halloween and Halloween Kills, the film will deal with the aftermath of the massacre of 2018 and how it's affected everyone in town.

Ticket to Paradise

George Clooney and Julia Roberts team for rom-com Ticket to Paradise, which follows a pair of divorced parents who rush to Bali in order to stop their daughter from an impulsive vacation marriage. Billie Lourd and Kaitlyn Dever also star.

The Flash

In The Flash, Ezra Miller returns as speedster Barry Allen, alongside Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne/Batman, for a reality-warping "Flashpoint" adventure that will also bring back Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman from Tim Burton’s 1989 and 1992 films. Sasha Calle also stars as Supergirl while Kiersey Clemons reprises her role as Iris West from Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Ron Livingston steps in to play Henry Allen (replacing Billy Crudup).

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Director Ryan Coogler returns to the world of Black Panther for a sequel to 2018's history-making MCU hit. The world of Wakanda continues on without the late Chadwick Boseman, bringing back stars Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett - along with introducing Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams prior to that character's Disney+ series, Ironheart.

Creed III

Adonis Creed himself, Michael B. Jordan, will make his directorial debut with Creed III, which, as of this time, won't feature Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa. No returning cast members or story details have been announced yet.

Avatar 2, which James Cameron filmed back-to-back... to back-to-back with Avatars 3, 4, and 5, seeks to sweep audiences back into the magical alien world of Pandora. A sequel to the biggest movie of all time -- which was recently upended by Avengers: Endgame (but will most likely reclaim the top spot after a theatrical re-release) -- Avatar 2 follows Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana's Jake and Neytiri as an old threat returns and forces them to leave their home and explore the different regions of the planet.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Paul Feig adapts Soman Chainani's 2013 novel about two best friends, Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sofia Wylie), who are kidnapped and taken to the School for Good and Evil. The film also stars Charlize Theron, Kerry Washington, Laurence Fishburne, Michelle Yeoh, Ben Kingsley, and Rachel Bloom.
