Guys, Im getting a 3-battery VW mod and I have two brand new batteries, unused, id like to use with it. I have others also but not new. If I were to see if the supplier has more of this brand and type, cant I just buy one more and use that with it? Doesnt have to be from the same lot and all that crap, does it? I mean if they are all 3 unused, same brand and type, but purchased a month apart, or so, and possibly different lots?

In other words I didnt want to have to go buy 3 more new batteries when I have two new ones now that are available.

Three identical brand and model cells will be fine mate. There's no way really you can guarantee same batch cells, they might even come from different batches on the same order. There's no real significant variation.

the same lot would be ideal but I wouldn't worry about it if they're unused and it's a parallel mod. Just pay attention when you put the batteries in the charger that they're discharging pretty equally and maybe check the battery temp with your hand while vaping at some point to make sure they aren't being loaded way unequally. Very high chance that there will be no issue though.

The reason for married pairs and the rotating of them is so that the load is evened out on the batteries. It keeps that leveled to prevent one getting over worked and causing it to end up venting due to be used more then the other. So as long as those two are unused and you have one that has the same specs you should be good.

Maybe if you have 3 used ones that are same brand/model?
Bad idea - if they're used they've probably been used a different number of times under different loads. That's the exact thing that makes non-married sets dangerous.

Start out with three brand new batteries.

The God Mods have a checkered history at best so you should not tempt fate with mismatched batteries!

Its may not be the best idea, but even NEW batteries wont necessarily have matching discharge characteristics. If I had to wait, I would pop used ones in there. Take them out and monitor them. Worst case is that one may be overly discharged, and ruined. It is certainly not the best choice. I don't recommend doing it, but I would under the circumstances.

If you've got no other mod and you'll be getting new batteries anyway, a few charge cycles probably won't kill you - just make sure to pull them with 50% or more life remaining.
