Sony dropped a bombshell on Game Informer today – on the 5th anniversary of the PS4’s launch, no less – telling the magazine that they’d be skipping E3 2019. No press conference. No booth. Nothing. The competition was quick to pounce, of course, with Xbox tweeting, “We can't wait to see you all at @E3 2019.” But look past the drama and the social media banter. Why is Sony doing this? What is its goal? The company has attended E3 in each of the convention’s 24 years. The decision to stop doing that is not one that’s made lightly.
