Well, technically it's a University Library, but the 3D printers can be booked for public use too. You just essentially book an appointment (2hr slots, 7 slots a day, half/whole day with the premium surcharge), and pay for the materials (or bring your own if you have it). This particular one has 5 printers, so it's usually pretty easy to book.

We also have a Public Library that's also thinking about incorporating 3D printers, and a little shop that rents tools also thinking about it too, it's gonna be sweet.

I'll definitely let you guys know if I get around to it, gonna be fun!

I'm looking into picking up a 3D printer in the near future.
Any recommendations for a decent plug-N-play type setup?

I have a CTC one I bought for my son . It is a Clone and it worked good right of the box . I got the cheep one . It is a wooden case . But do know that in order to get both extruder on line you will have to level the second one your self .
That is easy to do though . It will work with 1 extruder right out of the box .
None of them are really plug and play as such . Ummmm one thing .
Get your self a set of small metric Allan keys . The Allen keys on almost all
Of the 3rd printers I have built are metric. A ball end set front 1mm to 5mm and short as well as long will be good .

PLA is easy to print with .ABS is kind of hard to get right and it is messy to get right .
The CTC uses MakerWare and that is easy to use . It also gives you easy access to thingverse .

I saw some fairly priced small 3D printers on HobbyKing.com. They also have two US Warehouses, one on the East coast, the other on the West. Make sure to select the Warehouse before placing the order, otherwise it'll be shipped from China.
