.5 ohm or .2 ohm coil?

I'm new to this so please excuse my ignorance, I need to buy some coils and I don't know Jack squat. I have a mod that is 75watts max. And I have a sigelei ares tank. Anybody want to educate me? Please.

It is highly unlikely you will be sold .2 ohm coils. Mods are not designed to operate with resistance that low. Coils with closer to 0.5 ohms are preferred.

A 0.5 ohm coil is going to be easier to adjust to, since you are a new vaper. Coils in that resistance range usually vape well at about 30 to 40' watts.

Be sure to let the coil get saturated with e-liquid before you try to vape it! Fill the tank and wait about 10 minutes.

FWIW, that tank comes stock with a 0.5ohm coil head....What Nadalama said is right about that.

http://store.sigelei.com/Sigelei-Ares-Tank

Here is the manual for that tank: http://www.sigelei.com/uploads/soft/Manual/Sigelei/Sigelei-Ares-Tank-Manual.pdf

Did you get yours used? They may have put in an aftermarket lower resistance coil head than stock.

Like this rebuildable one: https://ejuiceplug.com/products/sigelei-ares-coils-0-2
The 0.2 would likely be Ni200, (i.e. Nickle) for Temperature Control vaping ONLY. Not wattage.

These are what you need: https://www.elementvape.com/sigelei-ares-tank-replacement-coils-pack-of-5

( Sorry, those are out of stock there, but ya get the idea. ;) )

Also, what Mod are you using???
A lot of mods say 75W max, most of those can't actually do it, nor should you as a beginner. IMO.

Thank you all, for your insights. I did get the tank used from a brother in law. And the mod I have is an aspire glint. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions in the near future. Now I can make my purchase, and know I'm not wasting my money on the wrong coils.

Ahh, you must be in the UK or thereabouts...:D

That particular mod is only sold there... but I found the manual for it: https://www.libble.eu/aspire-glint/online-manual-935064/

Yup, it's always good to ask questions. We're happy to help out here.
Cheers!

I was going to tell you that I hope you'll be able to find coils. Sometimes once a tank has been out for a while, the coils get scarce. However....

It appears that the Ares tank can use Aspire Atlantis coils! That changes things a bit. The Atlantis coil is one of the most cross-compatible coils I've ever heard of. There are dozens of different tanks that can use it. Vaporesso also made a cCell coil that was Atlantis-compatible, and the 0.9 ohm ones that I used for a while were really good coils. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Ok, how about a link instead?

(The way I know these coils are compatible is that I found a place that sold the Sigelei coils for X-Tank OR Ares - same coil for either tank. I have two X-tanks from years back, and the whole time I used them, I ran Vaporesso cCell ceramic 0.9 ohm coils in them. Having said that, though, I have to add that if you decide to go with any compatible coil, it's always a good idea to just buy a few coils and make sure they work well before you stock up.)

There are a bunch of other coils that are also Atlantis-compatible. There's a list somewhere here on the forum. I'll look for it in a little while - right now, I gotta go work!

Ok here's the list:

NOW I gotta go work! lol

Battery(s)
1x18650 Glint rated for 75w but what they don't tell you is, to be as safe as possible you have to have the right battery. And that's pretty much true for any wattage.
For 25-35w, which is the assumption your wattage will wind up being with a .5Ω coil (less w/.9Ω), Samsung 30Q, Molicel P28A, there's a couple LG HG, and Sony-Murata, and a couple others. But there are tons of no-no batteries on the market, so..what battery(s), be specific, do you have?
