This was posted in the Deals section, but I wanted to share it here too to make sure you all know. The effects and colors people are getting with this stuff are terrific, and I'm anxious to try it and see more photos of what others are doing.

A Fresh Approach to Mod Patinas - Alcohol Inking

THE HARD COPY:
Been seeing all the gorgeous patinas lately? So have we. Some of the most breathtaking and colorful effects we've seen so far have been done without harsh chemicals or high heat using simple inks! These alcohol inks yield great results, and it's not difficult or expensive. We found a great source for these inks that ships worldwide, and even found a handy how-to video to guide you through the process. (Warning: Language, might not want to play it loud if you're at work or around the kids.)

So go ahead, create your own vape-able work of art!

We want to give a special thanks to Ryan Weaver who allowed us to use the photo of his beautiful works of art above. You can also find Ryan and his very own juice line over at Ready Set Vape.

I don't understand the patina part. Isn't this just painting your mod with alcohol ink. Not really a patina correct me if I'm wrong .

You're correct @vapire.... in the truest sense of the word, this is not a patina. But it is a way to achieve some of the brilliant colors and beyond, with really no limit to the designs and patterns possible, without the use of harsh chemicals or waiting. In short, it's a patina alternative that is yielding stunning results!

Thanks for the link these are great and oh so easy to use. I first seen them in the Aesthetics Mod section here on VU and had to give them a try. They can be applied with many techniques and can be removed or changed with simple isoprophyl alcohol or nail polish remover after they have been clear coated. Fair warning tho they do stain brass which needs to be removed with never dull to return to original finish. I think it came out pretty nice for a first try. 2nd pic is with a forced patina for comparison.

You bet, @Smoky Blue. To the best of my knowledge there are no true patinas for stainless steel.... but it can be heat treated. These will work on steel, just be sure to seal your finished product with a clear coat.

Here is a how to on a swirl paint hydro dip method.

VERY COOL @Scuba-Matt, thanks for sharing that. I'm bookmarking it to watch fully later. Sweet!!!

@TygerTyger thanks for posting thIs. I've done one brass patina, and it's ok, but I have no patience. I always pull it too early, so this stuff will be something to try when I get the patina urge again.
