DC's Wonder Twins are activating their powers for a new live-action movie that is reportedly in development for HBO Max.

According to THR, Warner Bros. has tapped Black Adam scribe Adam Sztykiel to write and direct an original feature centered around Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna, who first appeared in Hanna-Barbera's animated series The All-New Super Friends Hour in 1977 before joining the larger DC universe where they are now set to make their live-action movie debut.

As DC Comics points out, The Twins have made appearances on the small screen before now, having previously featured in an episode of Smallville during the show's final season, and also popping up in a different kind of cameo for The CW's The Flash, but this is the first time that the extraterrestrial shapeshifting siblings are headlining their own live-action movie.

Though details about the project are being kept largely under wraps, it is known that Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will be producing the upcoming movie under their Temple Hill banner. It is also being developed with the intention of being given a streaming release, exclusively through HBO Max, where it will join the likes of DC's Batgirl and Blue Beetle.

The Wonder Twins, who are often joined by a space-monkey sidekick named Gleek, were re-imagined for a modern audience in 2019 when DC published a six-issue miniseries focused on the fan-favorite duo. The critically acclaimed series was brought to life by Mark Russell and Stephen Bryne, and delivered an "amusing and heartfelt" entry in the Wonder Comics line.
