Advantage to dripping

I'm fairly new to vaping in general, went through what seems the normal progression. Started with the ego setup then on to a box mod and sub tank. Now I'm looking at RDAs but not sure if it's for me, what is the advantages over a nice sub tank? From what I can tell I'll need to buy some supplies to build coils, is there an advantage to some of the crazy coils I see you guys building? I'm not a cloud chaser but I do enjoy blowing decent clouds but I guess I'm more of a flavor chaser.
What would be a good RDA to start with, and will my mods work or will I need something different? I have a eleaf 60w istick and an evic vtc mini.

Dude the major advantage of dripping OVER tanks IS
FLAVOR....
DRIPPERS wil agree on this...
Coils....
CLAPTONS,fused CLAPTONS ,zipper coils,parallel coils,twisted coils etccccccc....
That's the beauty of building ur own coils..
You can tweak the flavor of ur juice based on ur coils...
And the more u built the more you learn...
When I build my coils I always consider the following
RDA
WIRE
MOD
BATTERY
JUICE....
For example
I built a CLAPTON COIL IN MY VECTOR RDA, it was too damn hot and spit backs was terrible, decided to pull those out and put a regular macro coil 5/6 wraps 22g NICHROME on a 2.5 diameter coil jig, what a big difference I still get the same satisfaction even with out the CLAPTONS..
You still following me?
For me!! I drip to chase flavor, i don't just blow massive clouds, those days are gone, I wanted to taste my juice vapor comes second, don't get me wrong I still get a lot of clouds off my built.

Sure, sub ohm tanks chucks clouds, But no matter what they say, it's never the same compare to a RDA, I found it funny when VAPERS say
Oh men my SMOK mini or crown sot is great in flavor, maybe it is,but it's not like a RDA.....
For a new dripper like you..
I will suggest top airflow RDA like the SAPOR BY WOTOFO, easy to build, and it's a flavor RDA.. The reason I recommend this RDA is because new VAPERS/DRIPPERS tend to over drip, then they get spit backs, then they come here and complain or they get frustrated.....

Suggestions...
LEARN OHMS LAW
BUY NEW 18650's
Watch ytubes
Buy 26g or 24 g NICHROME/kanthal
Coil jig
Ohm meter
Wire cutters
Japanese cotton

Go to a VAPE store have them build you a coil according to ur liking and ohm preference..
Vaping is very subjective
Learn the basics before you think about
COIL PORN!!

My favorite little dripper is the Tobeco velocity mini, which I use on a regulated box mod - easy for testing juices, and the flavor is great. But I find dripping to be a pain full time, so I still use my Crowns daily :)

I don't get it though, u use the velocity to taste juice, then go back to a tank???
You know that I know it's not the same?

Because I vape way too much, too fast to drip, and it becomes too labor intensive:D:D:D

This is what I'm worried about.
Everyone needs a dripper in their arsenal, even if you rarely use it! I have a bunch, but the velocity mini is my favorite - partly because it's so easy to build (oh, and it was about $15 from vapenw) :)

Edited to add: I seem to remember you vape a fraction of what I do in a day, so the labor intensive issue won't come up for you!

Typically I'll vape about 3-5ml a day, so it wouldn't be to bad. I probably wouldn't use it a ton so would be nice to have one.

Get one - you need one :)

You may need an older model if you don't like huge airflow (which seems to be prevalent on most of the new ones I've seen - at least those that are reasonably priced). One of my early ones was an Igo-W (or Igo-L - I forget ) with pretty tiny airflow, but I liked it then! Check out Fasttech, and read all the reviews. You can probably get something dirt cheap to start out with, assuming you're not in a hurry!

I VAPEd more juice in a tank, tanks now a days are juice guzzlers, I bought the SMOK mini out of curiosity, VAPEd 20 ml with bland taste the whole while at work, and I have to VAPE 80 watts at least 5-7 seconds to get the flavor/vapor that satisfies me...NO GOOD
IMO

The closest tank to my DRIPPERS is the HERKALES, .60 ohms I probably got 10 pulls then refill it Again... I still have it... Don't like the SS coils...

Did you ever try a Crown? I've not tried a Herakles, so I can't compare, but from what I've read the Crown has the better flavor!

I tried it at a VAPE shop, didn't like the fact that I have to go 70 watts and suck it 5-8 seconds though to get my satisfaction... .6 on the herkales gave me me more hit due to that fact that my mod gives me around 5 volts

The advantage of an RDA to me is being able to easily change flavors. I've got a Herakles that can fog with a lot of RDA builds. My choice in everyday RDA's is the Wotofo Troll, followed by the Velocity. The Velocity is easier to build on, the Troll is easier to Vape. LOL, before you pounce me about the Velocity being hard to vape. Understand it is that damn little notch, that I feel like has to be aligned every time. If I were wanting to so some of the more exotic builds, I would go with the Velocity, much more room to build.

The only thing with trying it at a vape shop is that you don't know how old (or new) the coil was. Brand new they take a few mls to break in. When they're old they taste funky. Just a thought! I don't have the lung capacity to pull for 5-8 seconds LOL

If you want a dripper that can be used as a tank get the rage 3 in 1, its a full size 22 mm build deck with a tank chimney adapter. IMO it is the best tank because it is a RDA, none of that piss ant rba section.
