Hello everyone I'm Ben. Here Is a little background first. I am 26 years old and I smoked cigs for about 10 years. I started vaping 1 week ago and I love it. I haven't touched a cigarette since. I already fell some health benefits and my wife loves that I don't smoke anymore.Moneywas a little tight when I bought my first setup a week ago. I got a joyetech ego aio with a pack of .5 coils. I am looking at purchasing my first box mod that will last a while and I won't outgrow in the near future. I've been looking at a lot of different setups and doing a lot of vaping research all week. I seem pretty set on getting the smok alien starter kit. Is the smok alien the best route to go? Also I am looking for Any advice for my ego (coils to use, vg/pg % to use, etc) and any advice on my future purchases. Thank you in advance.

The Alien is definitely a good choice.
To really save $ DIY your juice and maybe use an RDTA and build your own coils.

I agree with @Paratech with the Alien as a good place to start. Give yourself a couple months vaping then I would recommend going down the RTA and/or RDA route. For an RTA for starters I'd recommend the Kayfun V5, SXK makes an excellent Clone and so does SJMY, you can get one for around $20-$25. Super easy to build on and wick. This would get you going down the Rabbit Hole of building, not to mention huge savings along with better flavor.

Thanks for the advice guys I'm definitely going to get into after a month or so with my alien. When I purchase the alien would you all recommend the starter kit or the box mod and the cloud beast or a different combo? Also is the alien the best choice mod to have for rdta builds? Thanks in advance.

Just get the combo with the beast that will do it for you until you decide if you want to get into rebuilding on a RTA

id get an alien mod and pickup the big baby beast with it. The beast series goes through liquid so the extra ml of the big baby is a plus. Plus with the big baby beast it comes with the rba with coils already. All you need is cotton and your good. pick up some kanthal to start working on making your own coils. That is how i started into the world of building. There is a plethora of videos online that show you how to build the beast. And if building coils isnt your thing most brick and mortar stores carry the beast coils. There are a lot of different coils for it so if they dont have one type they most likely will have another.

Alien and Beast (Big or Baby) is a great combo for sure. Make sure you chose quality batteries (Samsung, Sony, LG) and maybe consider a separate charger like a Nitecore. With those coils I would not use higher than 3 or 6 mg of nic in your juice. Good luck, and welcome to VU.

Okay Thank everyone I think I have decided to get the alien and the big baby. What are the best batteries I should get for this setup?

I would go for either Samsung 30Q's for high capacity, or some Sony VTC5A's now for reasonable capacity, and a slightly higher CDR.

Depending how high you will go wattage wise will depend what you want though. For most people, the 30Q is more than enough, 100W is fine with them in the alien, and that is at cut off. At higher voltages, they will push more safely :).

Okay thank you all. I am going to go with the alien, baby beast tank, and Samsung 30q batteries next week. I found a site with all of that and A nitecore d2 charger for 115. Seems to be a pretty good deal? Also how long do the batteries last should I get more than 2?

yes get 4 how long they last depends on how much you vape the resistance of the coil, length of draw and efficiency of the chipset getting an extra set allows you to have two charging while using the mod. In time you will get more mods and more batteries but 4 will do you as a stater

sounds like a good idea better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them thanks alot

When you do get the 4 batteries, keep a set of 2 each and use them as such. Just label them A1, A2, B1... or whatever. The reason to marry batteries is to keep their charge cycles "in sync" You can charge all 4, stick 2 in the mod, and the other 2 in a plastic case (always keep batteries in either a plastic case or a silicone sleeve for safety). then when one set runs low, you can swap in a fresh set without having to wait for anything to charge.

Keep that AIO in shape and have an extra coil or two for it. Always have a backup. If something goes wrong with the Alien mod or tank, you don't want to be tempted to pick up a cigarette awaiting a replacement. General advice is have backups for your backups. But that comes with time, depending on your budget, as you can only buy so much at once. If you get the kit with the BB tank, make sure you have extra juice around too. It does run through it fater than your current AIO.

Starter kit with the baby beast or the mod and the cloud beast

Agreed. I just upgraded to this (the starter kit) on Friday from a two-year old Segelei, and it's awesome. Get some LG H2 batteries and they'll last all day at 100 watts.

Guess I'll have to go back to making my own juice again....this combo drinks it up!

That sounds pretty good to me, I am guessing this is in Dollars yes? I live in the UK, and the alien is around £50-60 as the kit, a set of 30Q's will set you back around £10-15, and the D2 I believe is around £20 or so. Then add shipping and that is about £100, you might be able to find it slightly cheaper if you shop around, but if it is easier to order all from one place it is by no means a bad deal.

I would definitely get an extra set of batteries as recommended though so you can still vape using the alien when the others are charging, and also it is good to have a spare set anyway.

If you haven't ordered yet, it might be a good idea to get a different, 4 bay charger as you will be surprised as your collection grows, the 2 bays may not be enough.

I started with a Nitecore I2, then moved on to a D4. At the time I didn't realise its charge rate though, and with 3 or 4 batteries it was much too slow. The Efest LUC chargers are actually great quality- their batteries are not, but their chargers are very good. It offers 1A charging of 4 cells, and even 2A charging in 2 bays.

It probably would be cheaper looking around to purchase the Alien kit, batteries, and charger separately. You could save a fair bit of money this way. If you want to buy it from the same place though, I just think it would be worth you getting a charger for the same price that can last you a long time, instead of what I did and buying 3 different ones. If I bought the 4 Bay Efest at first, i would of saved money.

The Opus chargers also seem very good, and XTAR.

Agreed with all this. Try to get at least 6 batteries. My older Panasonics would last about half a day, so I would have a pair in the mod, a pair in my pocket, and the most recently used in the Nitecore D4 charging, but when I got home, I would swap out batteries again, so there were generally 4 batteries at various states of charging. While my new LG HG2s can last pretty much all day, they also take awhile to recharge, so it's nice to have space to add more batteries without having to monitor and wait. It's also handy if you're going to be out for a day or two (an overnighter or out of town)....you will have two in the mod, and two pairs for backup.

I did buy the Nitecore 2-bay charger with a car adaptor for family trips, but I never used it...and now I can't find it, lol.

Can't give you any advice on your new setup, but definitely keep your AIO! I have all kinds of mods and setups, but my AIO is the only one I can chunk in a bag, pocket, car console, wherever and it NEVER leaks. It still gives a good enough vape experience that it's my primary choice to take when I know I'm going to be on the go a lot.

Thank you everyone for the advice!! I am still puffing away on my ego aio and I am ready to step it up. So I finally took y'all advice and ordered the alien mod with the big baby with 5 extra t8 coils (from elementvape.com for $82 for everything).I plan getting into rebuilding as well with the Rba coil head eventually, I will purchase those materials next. Also, 4 Samsung 30q's and a 4 bay efest luc charger (imrbatteries.com for $44). I will post an update once I receive it all. Y'all think I got good deals??? Also I am very excited to try the setup out. I definitely keeping the aio with extra coils too I love this little thing lol best 20 bucks spent lol. Thanks again everyone I would have been lost on what to order without the advice from y'all. Sorry it took so long to give an update.
