Advice/information

I have recently moved into the mech mod world. I have an AV mod with the option of using two 18650's. I'm currently just using one, on a 0.20 build. I have good batteries. Sony's. Done a bunch of research and I'm coming to understand the ins and outs. I'm just curious as to what kind of build would allow the use of both batteries and why it will allow the said build. Until I 'get it' the second battery will not be used, I have a healthy beginners fear. Any info would be greatly appreciated as I seem to find little on that particular subject on the net. Thanks!

In that kind of situation, you're running a series setup which doubles voltage (not really but use 8.4v to give yourself that safety wiggle room). Dont build lower than a .4 otherwise you'll end up pulling too many amps. I personally try to aim for .6 on a series as otherwise it's too rowdy for me (which is still about 115w).

What Sony's and where did you get them, first. They're probably legit these days, but that info can't hurt. A .2 build with stacked (essentially series) 18650's will theoretically have 8.4 volts on a full charge. Disregarding voltage drop, that build would put out 42 Amps and 352 watts. Please someone correct me if this is incorrect, but I'm almost certain it's accurate. That equals boom quite possibly. No 18650's can handle that safely unregulated especially. So if your going to stack, which I would not, I'd get a dual battery mech box. You will need to build higher with the stacked batteries. .5 for instance is pushing 16.8 amps and 141.12 watts with stacked batteries. That's presumably safe with your Sony's if they're legit, but I just wouldn't go there. Rotating batteries becomes essential, and likely metering them occasionally while vaping to make sure one isn't drawing faster is also probably prudent. And again, remember you're doubling you're voltage, but the amp drain is not shared, nor is battery capacity. So each battery is taking that stress, just both working together, thus boosting voltage.

I'm possibly wrong, but I just don't see any appeal at all in stacking batteries. Too much to go wrong, and better options. Again, I have no personal experience so take this as you will.

Bottom line, enjoy and be safe. Sounds like you have a healthy dose of respect for what you're doing, important, and .2 is already damn low. I hope others will chime in and either confirm, or tell me I'm full of shit. If so then stack those batteries and rip away.

Thank you for your insight guys. I do believe they are genuine sony batteries (at least that is what they sold me at my local vape shop) they are green 3.7v 2100mAh . Sounds like I'd be safer to stick to one battery and play with different wire/ resistance ect. Ive tried some Clapton pre built coils. The flavor seemed inferior to my simple kanthal coils I made. I figured the more complicated the wire, that things would 'improve' , cloud/ taste . All safe trial and error I guess. Thanks again!

Not all Clapton is same. If you have lower gauge Clapton like 26/32 stage it with 24 or 26 around 2 mm Dia. Quick and snappy.
You can get a lot out of single battery tube once you figure out what to build for it. Series is totally different.

I think the single battery is a wise choice and as said, you can do a lot with one, just batteries will go fast. The described specs suggest you have VTC4's which are very good batteries. Also, if you've been using them separately, you need to buy a dedicated pair to use together, rotate, and charge together from day one. I forgot to mention that. Do not stack unpaired batteries. Bad bad idea.

Keep having fun, and go from there. The Noisy cricket is dirt cheap, popular, and it's a series mech, dual 18650 box. I'd go that route for a series mech over stacking any day. Be safe.

Sincerely appreciate everyone's feedback. I'm really enjoying my new equipment. Got the 'goon' to go with my AV . First time I've been successful with dripping. It actually tastes good , feels nice , smooth. A different experience all together from my realeaux and smok tank. Excited to try the build mentioned above.

Noisy cricket is a great series box, honestly Jaybo is doing himself an injustice with the price you can get one for, I absolutely love my cricket, so much that I'm going to get a 2nd one, but as mentioned above no your build and your batteries limits, if you treat it right (clean the threads!) It will be a great little, but powerful device.
