My question: Am I safe?

Ok, i've been vaping for over a year now. And knew absolutely NOTHING up until recent pictures surfaced on social media about people's faces being blown up. And began doing a ton of research. I recently ordered a regulated box mod (Kangertech NeBox) because i'm afraid. It's regulated and is an all in one. So there's less owner error.

A bit of background. You may skip if you want. I started with an ego twist. and it was great. The battery gave out and i wanted something more permanent. So i went into a vape shop and asked for a mod. They gave me the Akuma mechanical mod. Straight copper tubing, and i know now, no vent holes. And this terrifies me. I've blow down and up and get no air flow in the battery chamber. They paired this guy up with a mr. owl rda. And I loved it. I would drip and drip to my hearts content with zero worry. Then relocation caused me to drive longer trips. And the dripping became inconvenient. So, i decided to go with a kangertech tank. Which I picked up off of a friend for a soda. and i've placed all sorts of replacement coils into it, ranging from .2 to 1.2 ohms. Without a care in the world.

I have made many many mistakes and i'm glad that nothing bad has happened to me since i began. I've used beat up batteries. To the point where wrappers were peeled. And I remember tossing out a battery because of corrosion and actually thought of re using it. (Yes, horrible) Now, I baby my batteries and have many spares. Currently the MXJO IMR 35A. And will discontinue using them when my batch of Samsung INR 25r arrive. But I'm still very afraid. I'm a vaper, and need some input as to whether or not i should go cold turkey until my Nebox gets here. I'm looking at probably 2weeks if im lucky. Or if i can string along this possible hazard or if im relatively safe until then. Right now, the hits are meek. I bumped to the 1.2ohm because i feared the .5ohm. But i get the nicotine i need for the day with small fades of smoke on a fully charged battery hit.

THE QUESTION:

MOD: Akuma Mech Mod: (Copper Tubing. No Vent Holes I can find.)
BATTERY: MXJO IMR 3.7v 2500MAH 35A (Very well taken care of)
TANK: Kangertech Subtank (1.2OHM currently installed)

Am I safe? Or should I go cold turkey until my NeBox arrives?

Here's something a bit helpful with batteries...I prefer the 25R, LG HE2/HE4/HB4/HB6's myself. I would use the rating of the batteries that are under that MXJO wrapper, which is a LG HE4 I believe, which is 20a CD. I wouldnt build or use anything below .15 Ohms on a Tube mod but if the Tube or battery becomes warm discontinue use and build higher if its doing it often or getting too hot to touch.

Tubes are generally safe, dont use hybrids with devices with no protruding positive pins, build for what your battery specs are intended for. The people with mech mods blowing up are using tanks with no protruding positive pin on a hybrid mod or build excessively outside of the battery specs...this is operator error and not the devices fault.

It is a metal tube, you can drill a hole in it and clean the hole up...if it has no way of venting you can find. If it is copper it will be easy to drill a hole or two and clean them up so there are no burrs or sharp edges to snag things on. Its probably a good idea if you are happy drilling it. If you wanna test venting, blow a balloon up a bit then fix the end on the top of the mod (no battery in and 510 cap taken off) and see if it can deflate. If it does not deflate try pressing the fire button in to see if it vents through the button. Venting through the (depressed) button is rubbish though...borderline useless...so if it only vents via the button I personally would still take the drilling a hole or two option.

Venting through depressed button is useless because you aren't gonna be holding that button in if it starts venting, you are gonna drop/throw that thing....and now it is venting, sealed and you have a hurty hand as well :( bad times.

I actually started drilling into it. But realized I'd need a filer to make it smooth and I don't have one. It would likely cause the battery damage without a file. That and I'm afraid the metal chips/dust will reach the battery top and cause a failure. I'm crazy paranoid right now. You can't imagine.

So I left the hole half drilled. Yes, I blew air into both ends and there is no give. I smoke to get nicotine in, I'm not a cloud chaser. I just need to get it in safely. .5 ohms resistance is probably my happy place. But I'm too scared to do it.

Also, thank you for the quick responses. I will become an avid reader of these forums.

0.5 ohm draws 8.4A. That's fine with your battery, provided the battery is in good condition without a torn wrap.

Do you have an ohmmeter so you can check your coils before first use, and once a day? You're relying on factory coils, and sometimes you get a dud. It's always a good idea to check resistance on a meter before using a mech mod.

Drill vent holes near the top of the tube. You can find files at any home improvement store, and possibly Walmart.

before you start drilling holes you should look at some reviews of this mod ...most likely the mod vents through the button...alot of tube mods vent through the button...
