If you have been holding out on buying a new monitor for your gaming station, you might be in luck as several companies have unveiled new gaming monitors coming to their product lineup down the road.
Here's every gaming monitor announced at this year’s CES.
Acer announced three gaming monitors as part of CES 2022. Two of which are the Predator XP32 and XP32 FP. Both monitors are 32-inch UHD screens with a 165Hz refresh rate and a DisplayHDR 1000 certification.
The main difference between the two is that the Predator XP32 includes Nvidia G-Sync support and Nvidia Reflex, making this a good monitor for those that play a lot of first-person shooters like Valorant. While the XP32 FP includes AMD FreeSync Pro, USB-C power delivery support, and an HDMI 2.1 port, allowing you to game at 4K 120Hz when connecting a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or a graphics card that supports the HDMI 2.1, like the GeForce RTX 3080.
The Acer Predator XP32 FP will launch with a release window of Q2 2022 and will retail for $1,799. While the Regular Predator XP32 monitor will release for in Q3 of this year, priced at $1,999.
Acer Predator CG48 is the third monitor announced by the company. It's a 48-inch gaming display with an OLED display, with HDR 10 support and refresh rates up to 138Hz. The CG48 supports DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 and will release sometime in Q3 of this year for $2,499.
Alienware unveiled the first quantum-dor OLED monitor during this year's CES. A 34-inch gaming monitor with a 1800R curve, Alienware touts that this quantum-dot or QD-OLED monitor will offer "stunning performance and high luminance" to make it an immersive gaming experience for players. Additionally, Alienware's QD-OLED gaming monitor features include a 0.1ms response time, a G-Sync Ultimate certification, and a refresh rate of 175Hz.
Alienware is expected to ship the monitor in March 2022, with a price reveal to come ahead of release.
Asus announced the first 42 and 48-inch OLED gaming monitors at CES 2022 in the form of the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ and the PG48UQ gaming monitors. The company claims that unlike other OLED displays sold by its competitors, the ROG Swift OLED will feature an anti-glare micro-texture coating on the panel's surface, which should help reduce glare.
Both monitors are using LG DIsplay's OLED panel and will offer a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and a response time of 0.1ms. As far as ports go, both will include two HDMI 2.1 ports, making these suitable monitors take advantage of next-gen consoles along with one DisplayPort 1.4 and USB port.
Asus has yet to share pricing or a release date for the ROG Switch OLED monitors.
The ROG Switch PG32UQZE was also announced at CES this year as part of the company's lineup. This model is a 32-inch mini LED panel with l4K resolution and a quantum dot layer that promises "incredibly vivid, saturated colors." For those that want a 1440p monitor, the ROG Swift PG27AQN might be one to consider, which offers a 27-inch display with a 360Hz refresh rate.
If you're looking for a 4K gaming monitor with HDMI 2.1 support and a refresh rate of 144Hz, HP's Omen 27u might be what you are looking for. This is the first gaming monitor HP has made that supports HDMI 2.1. It also comes with an HDMI 2,0 port, two USB-A ports, and surprisingly USB-C support. HP also notes that the monitor features AMD FreeSync Premium Pro adaptive sync support.
The HP Omen 27u is slated to launch this spring with a retail price of $699.
Lenovo's Legion Y25-30 is a 1080p, 24.5-inch display that offers a refresh rate of 240Hz making this a good gaming monitor for those looking to run the AA games on the highest settings at a resolution of 1080p and take advantage of a high refresh rate. While the other two monitors Lenovo announced, the G27qe-20 and Lenovo G24qe-20 serve as more affordable, entry-level monitors aimed at casual gamers with both models sporting a refresh rate of 100Hz.
Lenovo will launch the Legion Y25-30 in May of this year, retailing for $339.99. While the G27qe-20 and the G24qe-20 will release in March with a starting at $259.99.
LG's UltraGear 32GQ950 is a 4K gaming monitor with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 that offers a 144Hz native refresh rate with 160Hz support for overclocking. And like most monitors on the list, the UltraGear 32GQ950 also includes an HDMI 2.1 port, allowing you to game at 4K 120Hz with compatible gaming hardware.
Samsung's Odyssey Neo G8 is a 4K monitor (3840 x 2160) with a 1000R curve. Samsung notes it is the first 4K screen with a refresh rate of 240Hz and a response time of 1ms, offering the fastest and most responsive times for those that want the best while gaming. Whether you like Nvidia G-Sync or AMD FreSync Premium Pro, the monitor supports both tech.
The monitor that is arguably one of the biggest surprises at CES this year if we focus on just monitors alone is Samsung's Odyssey Ark. This 55-inch curved monitor is the largest one the company has made yet. While the company did not share a ton of specs, we do know that it has a 16:9 aspect ratio and you can rotate it to vertically for use if that strikes your fancy. Samsung touts it as the monitor that can deliver a multi-view experience, allowing you to concurrently perform tasks such as play games, video chat with friends, and watch videos from just this one screen.
Unfortunately, Samsung has yet to share pricing and release dates for both the Odyssey Neo G8 and Odyssey Ark.
