While the new line of 2021 Kindles is out later this month, you can save a ton of money by picking up the previous model on sale right now.
These 10th generation Kindles are perfectly serviceable, especially at these prices. They're waterproof, they have a pixel-dense display that looks basically like real paper, no matter what kind of lighting conditions you're in. It also has plenty of storage with 8GB to hold your books, magazine, and audiobooks. They also include three months of Kindle Unlimited, which gets you access to millions of books, audiobooks, and newspapers.
The upcoming 11th generation Kindles do offer some improvements over the 10th-gen ones on sale above. They have a bigger display, spanning 6.8 inches instead of 6, and have adjustable color temperature. They also get better battery life -- though you'll still get weeks between charges with the 10th-gen ones. They also use the increasingly popular USB-C port for charging. If you find those features to be worth over $100, grab one of those instead.
