The Jesus and Mary Chain helped add some extra 80s ambiance to this week's mommy issue-filled American Horror Story, which saw Tristan make a deal with Mr. March, the Countess work her mojo on Will (despite him being gay), Alex encounter Holden in the Cortez hallways, Max Greenfield's Gabriel burst out of his bed trappings and kill Naomi Campbell's character, and Angela Bassett debut as the Countess' former flame, Ramona Royale.
Again though - to bang the same drum - the episode's length prevented this chapter from being a concise work and led it down the same sprawling anything-goes path this season has been on. Granted, this was the shortest episode of the first three, but if we were watching more disciplined TV everything would have shut down around the time Alex met Holden. A moment I was grateful for, of course, considering how John still somehow refused to speak up about seeing Holden himself - even during a family therapy session with Alex and Scarlett.
