Hotel sobered up this week, peeling itself away from its current streak of enjoyable-but-masturbatory flashbacks to coldly remind us that the beating heart of this season is an unfathomably dull vampire story.
Just days out from The Countess' marriage to Will Drake, our bloodsucking bride hatched a scheme to drop the hammer on all her current enemies. One that involved re-walling the tomb/wing that Valentino got stuck in so that she could watch those on her naughty list suffer via closed-circuit video. She had several cages, meant for collecting her foes.
But she only stuck Ramona in a cage. And then left Will on the floor. And then Will set Ramona free and she killed him. And The Countess watched. Because...she didn't want to kill him herself? Because she didn't want Ramona to truly suffer so she gave her a fresh dose of blood? The entire episode was leading up to some sort of masterful scheme and there was none. We knew she wanted to kill Will right after the nuptials so how was the ending supposed to shock or interest us? None of it made sense.
