The X-Files star Gillian Anderson will join Starz's American Gods, the network announced today.
Anderson will play Media—"the mouthpiece for the New Gods"—in the adaptation of Neil Gaiman's fantasy novel. The character takes the form of celebrities to serve as the New Gods "public face and sales representative," ensuring the public continues to worship their laptops, TVs, and smartphones.

American Gods will reunite Anderson with Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller, who works alongside Michael Green as co-showrunner. Hannibal director David Slade is expected to also serve as director on American Gods.
