Angled coils and airflow placement...?

Hey guys!

Been building/vaping for quite a while, I've done a bunch of the fancy stuff (claptons, fused claptons, caterpillar track coils, etc.....). I love building, and I love learning about the theory in order to get better performance out of my vape (don't we all? :D)

Anyways, I built a coil like a week ago, it is twisted 26g kanthal staged with 22g kanthat, staged the way Twisted Messes does it (having the thicker wire / twisted wire / clapton'd wire on the outer side on both sides of the coil). So in this case, there are six wraps of 22g, with twisted 26g sandwiched between the 22g. I'd take a picture, but I'm going to bed in a minute lol. Hopefully you understand what I am talking about lol.

Anyways, the coil performs great, I hadn't seen anything like it online and I love my staged claptons / staged fused claptons because of the quick ramp up time. I also love twisted wire, zipper coils, etc. Wanted to combine flavor of the twisted wire with the heat and vapor output of the 22g, and so my 'half-zipped coil' was born! It is much easier / quicker to build from scratch than staged claptons (any variety) and still performs like a champ! I think I wrapped it on 7/64" drill bit (may have been 1/8"), 6 wraps of 22g parallel with 5 wraps twisted 26g kanthal.

That is all besides the point of this thread though, just wanted to share :D Here is my real question...

Running a Mutation v2 clone from fasttech, with the slanted air holes (coil slanted at the same angle), and I have a couple options for how to position them relative to the coil: I can center the middle holes directly on the coil to provide airflow to the top / middle / bottom of the coil (assumably giving equal airflow to the whole thing), I can position them slightly past the coil towards the top of the coil (the least likely to improve anything in my opinion), or I can position towards the bottom of the coil.

I've read that you want air traveling UNDER the coil, so I am wondering if I should be aiming at the bottom? Or should I be centering it as much as possible to get equal airflow on top and bottom?0 Seems like any air coming in from holes near the top of the coil would get inhaled by me before doing anything beneficial to the quality of the vape, but I could be totally wrong.

What do you guys think? I'll try to add a picture or three tomorrow in case my attempt at describing it was unclear! :D

Thanks!

edit: duh, I can clear the whole description up by telling you that the coil is identical if you flip it 180 degrees. It is an electrical palindrome, for all you nerdy kids reading hahaha. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palindrome

I suppose I could add the Twisted Messes video, but like I said it is my bed time. Gotta be at work in 7 hours :( lol. Just search up his video on staged claptons, you will see what I mean!

edit 2 lol: Oh yeah, this is a sub-ohm coil. I run it on a regulated mod (Sig 150, not the newer TC version). Reads 0.1 ohms for a single coil, I wouldn't suggest it for newer builders and I don't recommend trying it as a dual coil unless you try it with 24g and twisted 28g, add at least a few more wraps, and/or wrap it with a bigger diameter (1/8" or above, assuming my memory of 7/64" on this one was right). Be safe, I don't want to watch the news and hear about someone blowing their face off because they built a 'half zipped coil' after reading a forum online. lol seriously, know what you are doing if you are gonna play with this coil (or any sub-ohm stuff for that matter).
