Hi All, Anthony Vapes back here with a text review and video link here

for my honest review of the Aspire Archon 150 TC Mod. No disclaimer will be needed, I wasn’t sent this for the purpose of a review. I actually purchased this due to a suggestion on reddit.

Introduction:
The Aspire Archon is a dual 18650 150 watt mod. It comes in 3 color options Black, Navy Blue, and Grey. All 3 have a Orange/yellowish Trim on them. It boasts a ton of features all on chip including changing the word on it (it comes with aspire but you can program whatever you want) an auto screen flip feature, 4 button menu system for much easier changing between modes, all your TC settings needed and watt curves. All programmable on chip. It’s firmware upgradable and was very easy to find and upgrade the firmware.

Initial Impressions and features
When I first got this mod, My initial impressions was it’s very light and a little cheap feeling. The 510 pin doesn’t look very good and overall it feels a little cheap. It’s got a nice design though but I’m not a fan of the raised platform top. 22mm will sit flush on the platform portion and 23.5mm will sit flush with the mod but over the raised platform. (as seen in the video with the cleito exo tank) I updated firmware very easy and worked the first time. And read into the features, and man this has a ton of features. The manual was easy to understand and very good and in no time I was able to take advantage of the features. The menu system is one of the best on any mod, very easy to use and switch back and forth between.

Watt Mode Performance
Let’s get into some data. I won’t keep anyone waiting since this is a popular request, the soft cell cut off I’m going to list at 3.1 (per battery or 6.2 total) my batteries were 3.08 and 3.07 when the check battery error comes up. The Idle drain is .02 per battery per day. The 3.1 should be low enough to please most people (personally I wouldn’t go lower then 3.0) and the idle drain is very reasonable as well.

I ran my test at .1, .15, .2, and .52 for my high resistance. You can see the chart above for the full data. While the 510 isn’t very solid looking, I had no issues personally with it. It was very consistent and accurate in reading resistance. Overall the performance of this mod is much better then I expected. It’s max limits were 38 amps, 6.843 volts, and 150 watts so it’s accurately measured. It hit the 150 watts at .2 while at .1 to .15 it fell 6-7 watts short. At the 125 mark it was 4,7,and 3 watts off. At the 11 mark it was 0,9, and 3 watts off. At 75 it was 0, 4, 1 and 7 watts off. At 50 never more then 4 off and at 25 never more then 1 off. I found it to be a very accurate mod overall especially for the price point. The performance at .1 was actually much better then most mods which will hit weak at that resistance. 100 watts or less at .1 it was pretty much dead accurate. It was a smooth and consistent output. Overall this mod gets a huge PASS for me in watt mode.

Temperature Control
Using SS wire in SS mode, I’ll start with the most important part. It was always smooth and consistent. A very good performer in temp control. With my test single coil it felt like it ran about 30-50 degrees weak. The best vape was between 450-500. With my dual coil test build I got the same results but felt it best around 430-475. At around 500 it got too hot. For my actual usage with dual fancy coils, my impression was it’s a really good vape in the 450-480 range. Ramp up is fast temp control works, output us smooth and consistent. It still hits a bit on the weak side, but the consistency and smoothness and fast ramp up make it a really good temp control device.

Overall Impressions
The performance of the chip in both watt mode and temp mode impressed me. I wasn’t sure what to expect, I’ve mostly looked at aspire as “starter” gear that I’ve outgrown. Outside of the cleito series of tanks (which I really enjoy) I’ve never really paid much attention to their offerings. While it’s a good thing I have an open mind and that somebody suggested that I try it. When they told me the temp control was good, I had to see so for myself. More often then not, I’ll hear that and it’ll be wrong. In this case, they were not wrong at all. The temp control vape for the price point was very good. My only gripe is I wish the mod felt sturdier and had a better looking 510 pin and was a little wider. But I had no 510 pin issues and this is an older mod and I’ve never heard of many of them breaking or failing so longevity should be pretty good.

Pros:
  • Watt mode performance
  • Temp Mode performance
  • Auto Screen flip
  • Watt Curves
  • Price point
  • Menu System
  • Tons of features all programmable on mod
Cons:
  • Really thin (24mm atomizers overhang, 22mm+ will overhang raised platform)
  • Build quality could be better. Feels a little cheap
  • Battery Door is loose and not very secure. Can rattle if you don’t bend it in
Conclusion
So with all that said, do I recommend this mod? I don’t like to do hard yes or no, but this one leans heavily towards the Yes. I think at the price point it can make a good beater mod, backup mod, starter mod, and even a good mod to first try temp control on to see if you like it before you spend more money for a DNA, FSK or SX mini mod. I was impressed by the performance of the chip. If the chip was in a wider mod with a nicer looking 510 I think it would be a killer mod. In temp control it outperformed all of the latest smok, ijoy, joyetech, wismec etc mods and in watt mode it was on par with or better then most. I think that anyone who purchased this, If they are ok with the cons would be happy with this mod. Overall I’ll be adding this to my sheet as a watt mode device and as a mid-range temp control device.

For good recommendations feel free to check out my google sheet of recommendations located here googlesheet this sheet will be updated regularly so feel free to bookmark it. It has 3 tabs one for juice, one for mods, and 1 for attys

When I saw the title I thought about grabbing some popcorn. I am also surprised at the outcome. I have never thought of Aspire as anything more than a starter brand myself.

Great job on the review.
