Hi All, Anthony Vapes back here with my review of the Venvii Baby Ness Mod. Please see bottom for disclaimers and links.

Introduction:
The Venvii Baby Ness is the latest mod from somewhat known company Venvii and the smaller single battery version of their loch ness mod. Venvii has had some interesting designed products in the past, probably mostly the Terra Octo which was an 8 coil RTA i reviewed last year. It’s a single 2x700 battery mod (21700 or 20700) and can be used with an 18650 battery as well with the included adapter. It’s available in 3 colors Titanum which they list as brushed nickel material, Snow which is white and powder coated, and ebony which is black and powder coated. All 3 however have a black plastic battery door. Also before anyone calls the name a typo, i also have known them as envii in the past, however it seems they changed to venvii as their newer products are listed as such on their site and it’s also written on the box that was as well, but it’s the same company.

Initial Impressions and features
When I first got this Mod, I was pretty impressed with the shape and design of it. I had already the original full size lochness before and they kept the same comfy shape making it really nice to hold. I expected it to have a rubberized coating like the original but i guess the issues of it peeling off made them get away from that. Instead for the one i have, they went with a powder coated finish that looks great on the white one and from what i can tell the black one in pics as well. The titanium version though is listed as a brushed nickel so doesn't seem to be powder coated. The white has a matte finish to it, it’s not glossy or shiny but looks great and has held up well as powder coating should. One thing i noticed that I didn’t care for and it goes for all 3 colors is the battery door is plastic and black on all 3. A powder coated metal door would have been much nicer. It has a basic 3 button layout with a fire button and up and down buttons on front and a DNA sized small black and white screen. Gets the job done, but a lot of mods have shifted to nicer and larger screens. Overall though i was enjoying it from the start.

Watt Mode Performance
No onto the performance, I won’t have any chart or sheet for this one and the reason being that there are 2 cases where the mod really struggles and pulses power instead of being smooth. Due to that I can’t assign a number to it. The 2 cases are 1) when pushed to its limits as in over 100 watts, which didn’t bother me much, but case 2 which did is anytime the boost circuit kicks in. With a single battery mod, the boost circuit is very important and this one just doesn't work well. Most of the time people using single battery mods will rely on the boost circuit. Especially with higher resistance builds. Even if you vape at 50 watts, it would need the boost circuit at anything over a .3 ohm build. So in short, the mod doesn't perform well. I also encountered an odd glitch that seems to be more firmware related. There was a few times where the mod would just stop firing after 1 second. I noticed it a few times while just using the mod, then it also happened a couple more times during my testing. The odd thing is, it only happened when my watts was set to 60 watts and i can't duplicate it on demand. It just happens randomly.

Temperature Control Performance
Using SS316 wire with the SS mode and TCR mode set at 00092, I tested 4 builds, 1 single round spaced, a dual round spaced, and 1 fancy single coil builds and 1 fancy dual coil build. All i can really say about this one is “what temp control” no matter which mode oe what build i used, even at 300F it was still burning and giving me dry hits with little to no throttle at all. Doesn’t work at all. Easy fail for me.

Other Usage Notes
The mod uses a 5 click to turn on and off of the fire button. The Fire button can be clicked 3 times to go into the menu system and use up and down to choose your mode. It’s really very easy to use and simple. Not a ton of options or modes. No pre-heats or watt curves. You have wattage, Ni200, SS(304, 316, and 317), Ti, Tungsten, TCR, and TFR. There is also a settings that allows you to flip the screen or turn stealth mode on. That’s pretty much it. Nothing too fancy. Holding up and fire locks the up and down buttons. Holding down and fire allows you to change wattage which is only needed for temp control mode to make it easy to change wattage since in power mode you can just change wattage using up and down like any mod.

Installing a battery in the mod will prompt you to select 18650 or 21700 which decides the watt limits. It’s 120 watts if you select 21700 or 80 watts if you select 18650. The mod itself is build solid with no rattle on the buttons, but is also pretty light. The Battery door is a magnetic backplate made of plastic, it should have been metal IMO. The powder coating looks excellent and doesn't scratch off, and no visible wear on mine. The fire button is flush with the mod and a decent size and nice and clicky. It’s also on an angle so it makes it really in a comfortable position. The 510 gave me no issues with any atomizer and there was no gaps either. The screen is small but very bright and clear. Easy to see in all lights. The mod can handle a 27mm atomizer without overhang They list 2.A quick charge, i have no way to test it, oddly it doesn't come with a USB cord, probably not a big deal because everyone has them these days and they are universal but still, how do you not include a USB cord with a mod? The mod also adjusts by full watt increments at 40 or more, and .1 increments at less than 40. Price point wise it’s a little pricey like most Venvii products listed at 68.99 for the ebony or snow colors and 74.99 for the titanium at heavengifts.

Pros:
  • Build Quality
  • Nice simple looks and form factor
  • good size for portability
  • color options and powder coat finish
  • no button rattle
  • bright screen with plenty of info
  • nice fire button
  • symmetrical design
  • easy to use menu system
  • Battery compatibility (21700, 20700 or 18650)
  • good 510 pin
Cons:
  • Screen is kinda small compared to most mods now
  • temp control performance
  • Plastic Battery Door
  • no USB cable included
  • no preheat options
  • power mode performance
  • price point is a little high
Conclusion
So with all that said, do I recommend this mod or not? I don’t like to do the yes or no, but for this i have to lean pretty heavily towards the no. I would have loved to have a mod like this on my list, but at the end of the day, it just doesn't perform or meet my standards of what i consider a good mod. I won’t be adding this to my sheet.

This is Anthony Vapes just keeping it honest, hopefully you all can say the same and i’ll catch you on my next review.
