Any guesses at what went wrong with my ipv4?

I had this thing for about 4 months before it crapped out. 3 month warranty. Uhgg Had modified the mirror finish so probably voided warranty any way. The problem- stopped firing and alternated "check battery" and "short" error messages. Tried new batteries and multiple atomizers. So after reading of problems with the charging board, I removed it per instructions on youtube. Figured what the hell since it was now a $100 paperweight. I am not electronically inclined nor have I any experience building mods. Was wondering if any of you modders can guess what might be causing the problem. Same messages after I removed the board as before. The bottom left spring loaded pin has always been leaning. Wondering if it could be that connection. Well crap i have photos but I guess they are too big? There are random black blobs on the board and housing. Looks like it was thrown together poorly Gotta love china. There is some corrosion above the top battery connection where the charging board connected. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot and I know it's probably pointless without photos. Anyhow... ideas?

Mine started doing the same thing, just out of the blue. And I love that mod, was going to try to see if it could be fixed, just have no clue as to who might repair them.

Only guessing here but your getting errors related to your battery input "Check Battery" and on your 510 "Short" which is on the output side. Only thing I can think you could check would be your negative connection, sometimes it's a common wire connection directly from the battery tray, board and to the 510. The black blobs are an epoxy that's normal and nothing under them that anyone would be repairing.

Thanks. I've been thinking it was the negative connection below one of the batteries since it has always looked funny. Forgot to mention battery meter shows half full when both batteries are fully charged. Looks like I'll be reading up on soldering and de-soldering. Should the solder be conductive or non?

If you don't have an iron you could probably get one from a Radio Shack that would come with enough solder for touching up a loose connection. Or you could just pick up a little rosin core solder from them if you already have an iron. Probably not necessary to de-solder anything if it has a loose connection you could probably just clean it up and re-flow the connection.

There is a metal post above the right top battery contact. It's used for the screws to hold down the plastic Inner frame. Make sure its not grounding the battery. It's a known issue

I know whats wrong with it and yes I repair them all done through pay pal, this is what happens when u buy from china, there customer service stinks and you need a international calling card just to try, I have fixed three of these and if you don't know what ur doing you will junk the board, if you have a volt meter you can try to see if your getting power to the 510 and if it is grounding out.

I actually bought it in the hardware thread back in July and it's run like a champ till last week, so nothing wrong with it when I bought it. I don't get the "check battery" warning, I get "short" and "check atomizer" every few hits. I don't know anything about taking them apart, so I haven't...lol! It's just sitting on my desk waiting for me to find a "doctor." ;)

So what do you charge for the repair?

Pioneer repair in the US is KMG.

BTW, the ipv4 has a six month warranty.

Well ok was wrong about the 3 month warranty but I had modified the screen anyway which would void the warranty. It definitely voided the warranty when i removed the charging board. Thanks for the info tho.

Nope, the screen protector mod is acceptable the board no. KMG would have sent you the newer screen, I got one from them no charge just postage.
Oh well!
