Anyone know what mods run what chip/mc?

I'm new to vaping, although it has helped me quit smoking (mostly). Friday I bought a used Jellyfish mod, which is junk. Again, it did it's job, only a few smokes since last friday. Looking to get a new box mod that's more accurate and stable, but information on what has what chip is scattered. I know most of the expensive ones run the SX series or DNA. Does anyone know what PIC chips are in the others? Tearing down my jellyfish showed it's using only the best quality. MEGAWIN as its micro controller. Scope shows that it fires a little high each time, somewhat fixed by new solder joints. As far as I can tell, its a knockoff costing 1.00. Eventually I'll get a DNA mod, but is there an open source mod, or something similar for those tech savvy? I've watched and searched but nobody does tear down videos on most box mods. Closest is pbusardo who's great but where are the engineers? Or am I asking too much that's still growing and in an infancy stage? I'd rather not build some raptor/emerson+stm32 based box mod just to get what I want. I've ordered a X cube 2, for 56.00 but I'm looking long term. The x cube is just because my jellyfish is going out slowly.

Thanks guys!

Well there is the hope that Cloudmaker will truly come through with their Cloudmaker OS..
Seems that they are the only ones I have seen that are trying to implement a community driven Open source system

I don't know who makes it but the chip in the VTC mini is spectacular.
Top notch firmware too.

@MrScaryZ
Yeah I read that, I also dug a little into it and I think they halted the Ares designs to get the SX and DNA models out. I did read that they mention Arduino on their site, which is okay. I like the concept, and I really hope it comes to be. Guess I'll just use the cube 2 until it breaks then worry again.

@Shark Vape
A shame, I almost want to start doing reviews on YT to show everyone what's really inside them. What you really pay for and are getting. Nobody does real tear downs on them, maybe they can't (NDA from oem's or w/e). I'm sure most of the common mods are decently designed inside, but my little Electrical Engineering knowledge has me leery.

Thanks guys

Yep I have been watching them Cloudmaker has only been around about 6 weeks who knows they could be all talk but if not I am all for an Opensource box and a opensource OS with descent chip.. It will be interesting I know once my DNA200 comes in and I get tired of freaking with it I will be watching them closely

I'm in the same boat. I'll just mess with the Xcube until I get bored then get a DNA200 or some other similar mod at that time. Someone probably already has a great mod they've made with arduino/stm32/pic that they just haven't released the design to. Oh well

Oh shit, I know there was a big thread somewhere all about the mod and issues. Maybe try the firmware update again? There is a user OneBadWolf who seems to know a ton about them...
