Anyone save a build after removing it when changing coils?

Assuming you are changing coils because of a desire for a different build and not because the current coils are faulty.

I was just curious if anyone saves old coils to be reused later. Perhaps a build that was difficult and still works fine, and you just changed builds for variety.

I cannot for the life of me make a Clapton cool. I saved a 24awg twisted I was gaping on for a month re wicked once a week and cleaned before a rewick (by cleaned meaning, dry fired and dipped into cold water.) re installed it and am still gaping on it. I feel if you care for your coil, you can vape on it for a while.

I bet I have 100 coils saved. Some are used and some had minor flaws (that make them u worthy for sales). I usually just pass these surplus coils on to folks at Vape stores (as I often get requests to build).

Budkiss, that reminds me, I need to take a pic of some of your coils to show on your coil sales thread. Your coils would certainly be one that I'd save.

joekr, i know -- I dont plan on making any claptons or any of the other variations on claptons or any advanced wire. I've bought a few strands/spindles of some though.

When I make really nice builds or complex ones... I keep them.. sort of like trophies for my own eyesight. Don't judge me.

I keep my vaping stuff in an open corrugated cardboard box. Every little hole made by the corrugation has some wire or coil hanging in it. So yes, if it's good it goes there. I actually just pulled one out the other day to reuse as I couldn't quite get a new build dialed in to my liking and I wanted to have something solid. So I grabbed that old highly used coil wicked it up and enjoyed my day till I got home last night and made a new coil and swapped it out.
