Warning, full spoilers below...
Protagonist Hotaru Tachibana has an overwhelming sense of justice — paired with a touch of ignorance — and uses her insane strength to defend the weak. In the beginning of the episode, Hotaru saves a guy that’s being bullied by three other students. She jumps from the third floor window, poses, and perfectly delivers superhero-like catchphrase. Hotaru’s showy nature is usually paired with other funny gimmicks, such as when she mistakes her neighbor Matsuoka’s airsoft gun for a real weapon.
Balancing out Hotaru’s brashness is Matsuoka’s charisma and easy-going nature. As a host at a club, it only makes sense that he has charm. It’ll be interesting to see how he uses that charm on the battlefield. As a fan of survival games — or airsoft competitions where players shoot each other with pellet guns to eliminate him or her from the match — Matsuoka uses his observation skills he learned as a host to be more aware of his surroundings. Unfortunately, the big point of contention in this episode falls flat.
