In response to the invasion of Ukraine, Apple has halted the sale of its products in Russia.

In a statement provided to MacRumors, a spokesperson said that Apple has "stopped all exports into our sales channel in the country," while also confirming that it will "continue to evaluate the situation." They added that the company is in solidarity with "all those around the world who are calling for peace."

Additionally, the tech giant has limited several other products and services in Russia, such as limiting Apple Pay and removing Russian state-backed organizations RT News and Sputnik News from the App Store for those outside the country. Apple also confirmed to MacRumors that it has disabled traffic and live incidents in Apple Maps in Ukraine "as an added safety and precautionary measure for Ukrainian citizens."

The announcement a week after Ukraine's deputy prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, penned a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook, calling on the company to stop the sales of new devices and to bar App Store access in Russia.

I’ve contacted @tim_cook, Apple's CEO, to block the Apple Store for citizens of the Russian Federation, and to support the package of US government sanctions! Apple joins a multitude of tech, entertainment, and video game companies showing their support for Ukraine. Yesterday, Roku and DirectTV announced that it was dropping the Russia-backed news channel RT as reported by The Verge. Disney, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros. have also announced it has pulled movies from release in Russia.

As an outpour of support continues across all these industries, Fedorov also shared this morning on Twitter a letter addressed to "all game development companies and esports platforms," with specific callouts to Xbox and PlayStation to temporarily pause on support for Russia and Belarus.
